I feel as if i have to write poetry, then hide it.

i write poems...a lot of them. I write them when i'm mad or something happens. word just come to me. i'm stand offish about showing anyone but my friend kristen, even though i have a lot of friends. she says i have a gift (i don't agree). i haven't even shown my parents ONE poem. is this normal? or am i just being a shy girl? i don't know. Please feel free to write anything about this. i like honesty.

No emily its perfectly normal I do the same I really dont show alot of poeple my stuff bascially what i have shown is what ive shown on hee poetry is kinda ones midn in words ya knwo you dont want people do see ur flaws all the time since thats mostly what peotry is its uyr feelings we dont liek everyone knwoing how we realy feel

hey? if u love to write poems... don't hind them... show it to people... cause? when ever ur feeling sad... people all over the world will be there for you and when ever you feel alone... people all over the world will be there to be your friend.. i wish i could hind my work away from my ex-gf... cause everytime she see my poem... she just hates me more ...

Perfectly Normal. I don't like showing 99% of my friends my stuff and i DON'T show my parents (but thats probably coz i hate them and they are REALLY unfair and i dont have a relationship w/ them) but show who you want and then leave the site to look too and help you improve!

All my friends have seen my poems but my parents haven't seen any, because it would mean I would have to do a lot of explaining, which to be perfetly honest, I don't have either the time or the inclination to give x

Some of my friends have seen my poems my best friend inparticular has my username and password so he can look at my poems more easily I would never show my parents them I think there quite personal and showing parents would just be weird

yah, that's fine, some people feel more comfortable with showing their poems to friends and family, while others don't. i usually only show or share poems with friends of mine that have an interest in it to, since they might be able to appreciate it more, and not think of it as something *stupid*. sometimes I do show my parents poems that I'm proud of, but not all the time, they'd never make fun of it though, most of the time they just give me constructive criticism if I need it.

you shouldnt do that everybody has talent though most dont really agree they dont. i try writing poems and its hard. dont put yourself down

i never used to show anyone my poems cuz i thought they weren't worthy of being shown cuz i would always be so scared that someone wouldn't like what i wrote and then i came to this site and accepted that not everyone was gonna like what i write and im fine with that but i mean seriously your poems should be special to you and you should show it to those who you believe you can trust sorry if im being like all wierd but im just saying write what you wanna write and show your works to those you wanna show it to!

I do it too! My parents have read maybe three of my fifty some poems. I'm afraid to have my sister read them because if she reads any more about cutting, she beats on me (in a sisterly way). I only let a couple of my friends read them, one I only let read them because she asks to, but i don't like it because she shows everyone else.

If I purposfully show someone my poem I always end up feeling stupid, like Im trying to brag about what I do.

i never show anyone cos my sister is the only one who knows i right them and most of them are about her lol

i think that just about everyone here will agree with me on the fact that justplainme only has a 3.2/392 rating and should really be spending his free time working out the problems with his sucky poems, not finding a way to insult others for no good reason whatsoever

i think i'm a horrable poet, but think what you want. i write cause it makes me feel good. votes don't matture.
(and by the way my rating went down its now 4.4 =(. )
