"From Quote To Poem" Contest ... Again!

  • Bre Monique

I did a contest similar to this about a year ago to great results so I've decided to do it again.

I'm going to post 10 quotes and the contest is to turn one of the quotes into a poem. Although none of the quotes rhyme, you can decide whether or not to make your poem rhyme. I just ask that you don't alter the quote. You can interpret the quote however you choose, just make sure it makes sense and isn't just thrown into the poem. It IS noticeable if you do that.

There is no definite prize. There may be one winner or three. I may favorite you or not, depending on how good the rest of your poems are. I may r/r/c one of your poems or I may do them all. It just depends on how much I like your work. The whole point of this contest is to showcase your writing and to have fun ^_^

The contest closes when all the quotes have been reserved. It'll be over and a winner will be chosen when either all the poems are posted or DECEMBER 1ST.

    Quote-I don't know what I want but I know I don't want this

    I'll Never Love Again

Once again I'm pretending, pretending that I'm okay
Friends no longer concerned 'cause I'm smiling again
They haven't realized it's all an act, that pain is buried
That I haven't actually dealt with hurt but locked it away

Giggling throughout days, at night it's a different story
For I'm left all alone in misery, sorrow slowly choking me
Your side of the bed empty and cold, surprised it hasn't frozen
Still adamant you did nothing wrong, blazing with false glory

This hurt hasn't begun to fade, don't think it ever will
Funny how love can so easily turn to betrayal and hate
Tears slipping, strange I can love and hate simultaneously
After everything you said...sad that I know I love you still

Going out flirting with other guys, pretending I've moved on
No one knowing with each new number I'm dying more inside
B.itching about you to friends, focusing on all of your flaws
When in reality my heart just can't accept the fact you're gone

And you're saying the most spiteful things imaginable to me
Never knew I had the capacity to hate someone so much
Yet you're telling others that I'm still playing on your mind
Used to be my utopia now all that's left is endless misery

You say that you still love me but things will never be the same
Let's get this straight, hate each other yet love you and you love me
No longer know what I want anymore but I know I don't want this
This little escapade of cat and mouse become a dangerous game

When we met we were told, "You'll either love or hate each other"
To bad we were never warned it could happen at the same time
As I'm writing this can feel myself slowly going numb inside
Cause here's the truth...already know that I'll never love another

Everyone makes mistakes, always said people deserve second chance
Yet so confused thinking can I forgive him yes I can, no I can't
And you've already proven that you wont give us another go
Oh why did we decide to participate in this dangerous dance?

Do you know sometimes just want to slap you in the face
While at others all I'm longing for is the comfort of your arms
Come to think of it, yes I most likely could and would forgive you
So why can't you forgive me and take me in your embrace?

**The main theme of this is not knowing if to go back or move on...originally this wasn't supposed to rhyme but when checking it I realized some stanzas did hence the abca rhyme scheme**

She was staring outside her window
waiting for the dusk to come,
there it gushing the pouring rain
that enliven the pain in her heart.

    a vision appear creeping placidly
    right unto her front;
    darkness creature keeps on lurking
on the waning of the fortitude she hold inside.

    Animosity grew effusively
    & the wind howls fiercely
those evil behind are rising completely
upon the solicitous hatred she kept they went hungry.

she walk slowly on through the broken mirror
looking at her reflection the girl says
"Living in could have been`s and what if`s,
I`m just so sick of always doing the right thing."

Quote, "She blasts her music and closes her eyes shuts off the world, until she feels alive."

    Faded Memories Come Alive
    by Italian Stallion

    A pondering Soul,
    Rests upon the moonlit sky.
    She blasts her music
    And closes her eyes
    Shuts off the world,
    Until she feels alive.

    Fireworks exploding in the background,
    Teardrops falling from the sky.
    She opens her eyes
    And sees him near,
    Holds out her hand
    And wishes him there.

    Faded memories come alive,
    Vivid images stay entwined.
    This everlasting love sigh
    From deep within the sky,
    Must be his cry,
    Waiting for her to fly.

Fly up high upon the stars,
    To meet him once again.
    For his life on earth
    Came to an sudden end,
And her heart never let go
Of the one and only love.

Quote: "You either die the hero,
Or live long enough to become the villain"

    Villain Becomes Hero

    You either die the hero,
Or live long enough to become the villain.

    Id die the villain.
Cause ive got this fear of failure
    That doesnt let me down,
    I just dont try.

    An unrelenting sadness hangs over;
Like a rain cloud in the atmosphere,
    Blown away by the wind,
    Ill see sunlight again
But not before I fail to see the reason.
    What drives you?

They'll be carving out my heart tomorrow.
Intiation into this dark cult will kill me,
But I did this for you.
Yet does this still make me the villain?
To become what ive always feared,
Id have to lose you to find you,
I dont look forward to the mourning.

    `Incredible Ruin, Terrible Feat` (c) NG RRL

Time erodes on our maple bookshelves,
Neglected of intimacy with you gone.
    Now nothing makes him tick.

Close by, our alarm sings pointlessly
While I cradle your unwashed pillow,
Inhaling moments passed in crimes of passion.

Several feet away, the dusty telephone rings,
High pitched like the sound of my crying.

Our machine answers with your tender voice,
    Still reverberating love and happiness
Through a now lonely and broken palace.

    With my heart ripping further,
A salted smile wipes pain across my face,
Reflecting the thoughts of our almost family.

Our room is freckled with spots of sunlight,
Flying in through the windows, 'round curtains.
    Its brightness makes me sick.

Atmosphere in the house wreaks of stale food:
Attempts of others to re-institute my appetite.
I lift my head to spy on the clock, not ticking.

Down below, something lurches in my round belly,
Kicking and turning lively in my womb.

Your spontaneous death cocoons my world
While another life steadily grows within,
Making me a walking oxymoronic disaster.

This new found impregnated purpose we shared
Succinctly grew into each of your morbid fears,
Until you took your own life, running from the unborn.

    It happens gradually, and then,
    Suddenly you're afraid to live.

    "All I've ever wanted
    was to feel as light
    as a feather &&
    as free as
    the wind

    All I've ever wanted
was to feel as though -
    I'm enough"

    Flying, how perfect
How naive for you to say
All I ever wanted was to stay in one place
Can I stay with you today?

    Simple, how elegant
The dance of the feathers in the air
All I ever wanted was to be enough
To be enough for you to care

    I love you, how sarcastic
The little spikes inside your voice
I fly around till you've had your fun
I fly because I have no choice

    Manipulation, how you
You pull my like I'm just some puppet
And I dangle and fly from many strings
Till you decide to cut it

    Flying, how perfect
    When falling is your fear
But I'd rather fall and shatter
Than be played by you, my dear

Ok, I've read through the poems and there are still some people that haven't posted. I'm going to extend their deadline until midnight and if they haven't posted by then, I will unreserve their quote and extend the contest to Dec 1.
