    Ok

i think i have come up with a sutible question to ask of thee.

what do you think of the olden treatments that were used for schizophrenia?

    some examples of treatment are:
    1. drowning the pacient and then re-starting their heart
    2. insalin coma therapy....where one would get a dose of insalin so high that they would slip into a coma
    3. hovering and slowly lowering one into a pit of snakes
    4. injecting horse blood into sed pacient

i'm sure they also used some no so extreme measures but that is for you to find out if you so wish.
    lol
(trying to make you work a bit)

cant wait to hear your responces.

^ that's just cruel, it's just not something you would do to another human, they may have schizophrenia but they still have feelings, my uncle has schizophrenia and he hates it when his brothers drag him to the psychiatric ward everytime he stops taking his medicine... last time they took him screaming: "I'm not crazy"... for me I believe that the only way to treat psychological illness is by using psychology, doing things that have nothing to do with the psychological status that the patient is in is just rediculous, I don't believe in medical psychological treatment either.

There are many different psycosis illnesses and most of them are really just chemical imbalances in your brain. Schizophrenia is a severe mental illness though. The chemicals in the medicines help to try to balance and stabalize those chemicals that are all out of whack. I personally do have a mental illness (that i know of) but my older brother is schizophrenic. He has trouble taking his medicines sometimes but realises he has a problem and takes them anyway.

Now, medicines might not be the only way to help "cure" a mental illness. (Though you can rarely ever "cure" the severe ones.) Therapy does help.

Our knowledge of mental illnesses is very limited as it is difficult to study the brain and all the causes of these illnesses. The best we can really do is help to lessen the stress, pain and difficulty of the patients daily lifes. I try to support my brother, though he can tend to be annoying at times. He is 21, lives and home and loves the Lord to a point of ignorance. However, I still love him and my family is just as much a part of schizophrenia as he is.

You have to remember that these treatments were used 20-30 years ago.
thought they do still use the insalin coma therapy in extreme cases.

i know that many poeple either have or know someone who does have this disorder and that these kinds of treatment affect you more than the ones who dont.
but keep in mind that they were used in a time where people thought it best to "restart" the brain as you would an everyday computer if it freezes.

keep posting and i will have a new question ASAP.

    NEW QUESTION:

What in your mind does OCD involve?
do you have OCD? (what type?)
(if you dont) how do you look at thoese with OCD?
in you oppinion what is the best way to solve/fix/get rid of/reduce OCD?

  • sweet escape

I would call what you have OCD and i totaly understand what your talking about because i also have OCD. Though i dont think that thoese with OCD are stressed and have a lack of self-control.
i personaly have lots of selfcontrol. though at times i am stressed.but that is normal for everyone.

    thanks for your input.

This doesn't really answer your questions about OCD, but I thought I'd share what I feel.

I get so annoyed with people, and particularly friends that I know should know better, who when complimented on how tidy they are say, "Oh, I have OCD!" No.. you don't. I know they're not meaning it to be, but I find it very offensive. There are people who actually have OCD, and some cases are really bad. Just because you can keep a neat room or locker does not mean you have OCD. I know this has nothing to do with the topic either, but I feel the same way about people who say have ADD/ADHD. No.. you don't. You're just saying that for attention. I also think doctors are quick to slap the ADD/ADHD label on a child. Elevated but still developmentally normal levels of motor activity, impulsiveness, or inattention traits of childhood could be inappropriately interpreted as ADD/ADHD.

Sorry, just wanted to get that off my mind.

    No, no,
i love it when someone can read my questions and get a totaly different answer out of what is there even if it doesnt answer the question but is on the same subject. oppinions and views are welcome here and just cuz that question was not up there didnt mean it couldnt be answered.

To day i went hiking for a field trip and got some awesome pick but saddly that means less time to think about questions......sooo keep up the posts

Ok i have a new question but it comes with a lil story.

yesterday i put my dogs in their cages as to prohibit them from rushing my elder brother at the door.
they continued to bark and he hit the cage and yelled at them.
i told him to leave the dogs alone
and he yelled a lot of mean names at me then proceded to say and i quote "I hope you F-ing Die!"
    and i replied "i hope i F-ing die too"

naturaly i got very upset and emotional
but the thing that bothers me the most is that i agree with everything he said (and he said a lot of worse things ab me).

    Question:
how would you deal with it?
what would you do if it made you think about death even more than the amount you previously thought about it?
was i right in sticking up for my dogs or should i have allowed him to yell at them like that?

  • adriaan

Well...firstly I wouldn't say that kind of retort back. I'm not that kind of person (especially since it all sounds a little bit on the immature side, hehe) but I would just ignore everything since it wouldn't affect me, my parents would probably yell at him for using that kind of language, and he'd get into more trouble anyway...so I guess I wouldn't be bothered. That's just me, though.

About thinking about death...naturally I'd be a lot more upset about that. I'd find a way to get over it, speak to some of my friends for comfort to get rid of bad memories perhaps, but I'd live.

And yes, you were right in sticking up for the dogs. Otherwise he'd just have done it again, since he was in the wrong. I'm not sure if he knew exactly the depth of what he was saying either. In any case...it'll be ok. It'll pass. :)

  • forevertobeart

If my brother said that to me I would probably tell him that I'm sorry he feels that way but I'm not dying any time soon, and then I'd ask him to leave my house.

I would be upset about it, but I would not let it get the best of me and control my thoughts for too long. Things are said, especially things that aren't meant. Words are words. And since when did I take anyone seriously? If something like that happens, surround yourself with people who do care about you and love you. You'll feel a whole lot better.

You were absolutely right in sticking up for the dogs. No one is meant to be treated like that; not you, and not the animals. Adrian is right. It will pass. Keep your chin up and don't let anyone bring it back down.

Thanks i will be sure to add more (not as personal) questions soon...

    like now><<<<<>>>>><<<>>>

    1. what is your favorite kind of food and do you think that has a connection to where, how, by who, and in what era you were raised?

  • adriaan

I think my favourite will probably be Chinese...I was brought up on that since I was young anyway. My mum's Chinese (ish) and brought me up on that, so that would suggest a connection. As to where and in what era...nah, not much connection there.

  • Dark Secrets

I don't think I really have a favourite type... I like coctail foods, things that have more than one flavour in them or are just weird tasting. I think it has something to do with personality more than the way you've been raised, I mean me and my brothers have been raised in the same environment and we have wayyyy different tastes in food. They like the traditional stuff, I like new and weird food.

  • forevertobeart

I think you like certain things based on how you grew up and what you were fed, but it also works backwards.

If I eat any kind of noodle there has to be potatoes under it. That's just the way I was raised; Ramen noodles, cheesy noodles, beef and noodles, chicken noodles (home made, not in the can), I eat them on top of potatoes. My boyfriend says I'm weird for it, but oh well. ;) However, I absolutely HATE hot dogs because my parents and babysitters made me eat them all the time as a child.

Ok today in my psych class we talked about how we see the world and how we dont know if anything is real or not.and we looked at illustions like the painting

    1. Blue
    and
    2. three ages

if you cant find the pic online do so and then post back there what you see in each.

  • adriaan

What paintings? I'm not sure what you mean. Who are they by?

It must be some weird coincidence that you're talking about illusion and reality, because I was thinking about it a few days ago, ended up deciding that the world, life, people and everyone, does not really exist...it's a strange philosophy.
It sounds similarily Platonic in some ways, perhaps.

  • Dark Secrets

If you mean blue by picasso then I feel like the girl in the painting is exteemly lonely and depressed, and the nude part gives out the impression that she is unprotected.
If you mean the three ages of woman by gustav klimt then I feel like the painting tells a story of a mother, how hard it is to carry a child nine months, but then it shows you the wonderful present you get afterwards to see your child and hold them tight and the love you give and recieve while raising it.
But if you mean the painting the three ages of man by Dosso Dossi then it shows the way a boy turns into a man, first the curiosity of boys and their mischief, then how a young man wants to show his strength by joining the army and taking on huge responsibilities and then finally falling in love and settling in a peaceful environment and living- back then- the country life (The country life because of the sheep behind the man and his woman... they are faint but still easy to spot.)

  • forevertobeart

If you could possibly find them for us and post the link here or tell us who painted each one that would be very helpful, because we're not quite sure which paintings you are referring to. I googled both and got a lot of different pictures that you could be talking about.

Very weird. I know technology and general knowledge about medicine in those days wasn't so high but could they not figure out that they were hurting the person more than fixing them?

  • Dark Secrets

Both paintings that you posted are interesting, everytime you look at them you find something new hidden, and it might not be one of the things the artist intended to put in.
The three ages really tells what the tittle says except I find more than the three ages of humans in it, the thing that caught my eye in it is the mother and child in the face of the guy in the middle.
As for "Blue" it looks like a long story to me, possibally in the ocean with lots of creatures, drama, confusion and love. The thing that captured my eye here was the flow of orange which goes across the painting... it looks like hot streaming lava.

Cool ways of looking at it

as of yet i have no new questions

    well....actually...

what is the best and fastest way to get over a cold?

  • adriaan

My way of getting over a cold was to continually get rid of all the mucus that was stuck in my nose with my fingers.

And before you try it, it DOESN'T WORK. It helps to cause a large nosebleed sometimes when the capillaries burst though. :)

The best way is just blow your nose. If there's a load of mucus stuck up one nostril, block the other nostril and blow hard. (Stating the obvious, I know :) )

Oh, those days of winter...I used to go out in the cold, contract a horrible cold within five minutes, suffer all day, get home, and the cold was gone by the time I went to sleep. And then it came back the next day. *sigh*

    Ok, I'll ask a question...
Why do you think we write poetry, I know it's to express your feelings, but I mean why "poetry" you can express feeling in many other ways.

I don't only write poetry, writing is sorta in my blood, it has always been my passion to write and it was the best way to express my feelings because I used to be really shy and it is the only way I could truly fully express what I want to.

  • sweet escape

Thanks for asking a question for me i am in a lil question block>.<

    lol

    well to answer YOUR question......
i think we dont just write poetry...i know i dont....but poetry is also more universial than "personal" stories. Though they would be neat to read.
    =)

  • Pamela

Why do you think we write poetry, I know it's to express your feelings, but I mean why "poetry" you can express feeling in many other ways.

Well, I use poetry, because it's all my feelings and I don't want people to know my deepest feelings for one reason or another, so I could just tell people it's pure fictional. =]

  • forevertobeart

I write so I don't have to talk to someone about how I'm feeling. I write to share my experiences with other people and let them know they aren't the only ones. I write to entertain, to make people think, to better myself. And I post it on here because I'd rather have perfect strangers read my work than the closest people to me, because then they wouldn't have to see that the person they knew to be me for all these years was not really me at all, but more of what I wanted them to see.

I heard that there were four dreams that everyone has had or will have at least once, and I know I've had all of them.

    1.)Your teeth are falling out,
2.)You go to school or to work naked,
3.)You're running from something but not getting anywhere, and
    4.)You're falling.

I forget what 2-4 mean, but I was told that the one about your teeth falling out means that you're really nervous or anxious about something. And I also heard that in the dream where you're falling, if you actually hit the ground in that dream you die.

  • Dark Secrets

^ I had most of those except for the falling teeth one, I have had dreams where I was naked in, but they were in other public places.
In most of my dreams I run away from something, eventually I get caught. I sometimes have dreams with animals like cats and sheep.
I think my dreams come from my emotional and physical status before I sleep like when I have a blocked nose before I sleep I have dreams where I'm in this cloudy foggy place with einstien (have no idea why einstien) and he's a short guy and looks like one of snow whites dwarfs. Anyway we get into a fight and then suddenly I'm in a boxing ring and there's this huge guy in front of me and knocks me down.

I usually get five or six hours of sleep a night. I don't have dreams every night, but when I do dream they often take place at my dad's house where I grew up and lived for 11 years before moving. I think dreams have meanings, and I think that my dreams where I'm at my dad's house might mean that I miss home a lot. Idk
