Impossible choice

Ok here's my problem. I have a friend Chris who is 19 years old. Since he was little he has been prone to seizures and he has had a tumor wrapped around his cerebrum that they can't remove because it's too ricky. Just recently after having one of the worst he's ever had, the doctors took a scan and they found that it seems to be growing slightly. Every treatment they've tried since he was diagnosed 11 years ago has only made things worse. The only other treatment there is, is medical marijuana. But the doctors can't give it to him until he is 21. His seizures are becoming worse and more frequent. So as of 2 weeks ago his friend told him he could hook chris up with some marijuana. Chris was skeptical at first but he didn't know what else to do so he took the offer. Now every morning he's been smoking a joint and he hasn't had a seizure since. And better yet, his most recent scan shows that the tumor is shrinking a little bit since he started smoking! But what he's doing is illegal and he does feel really bad. He asked me for advice on what to do. I'm not sure what to tell him. Could I hear some opinions on what you guys would do?

This is indeed a hard subject to discuss. I will break it down as best I can.

    Pro's
    -No Siezures
    -Tumor is shrinking
    -He probably seems nicer

    Cons
-He's doing something illegal, because of his age.
-Doing it at a young age.

The reason that they're unable to give him the MJ is because of the fact that his brain is still developing and a lot of people believe that this will hinder the growth of the brain and kill off vital cells.

I've actually debated internally about this one, and I believe that he's not doing anything wrong, the person who came up with the findings about the Marijuana killing brain cells was very much biast and the conditions were not setup as they were the day before.

Do I believe that it's wrong to give someone something that could help him and ultimate make his life longer. I don't believe so.

I know that there are a lot of doctors who will say this type of situation is a hard one to deal with. They sometimes make hints and even tell him that this will help him but they are unable to provide him with it until he is 21. They will say it repeadily so that he understands that this will help him but they are unable to provide him with it. Meaning go find it and it will help you.

I know that in Canada it's 19 that you can be provided with medical marijuana so I really see nothing wrong with it.

This is just my opinion and I'm not a medical expert in any shape or form, just saying what I believe to be right.

    I agree^.

It is helping him, so big deal. It's not like he's smoking just to smoke or whatever. He's smoking to HELP himself. I see nothing wrong with that.

What? its illegal under 21? my ex boyfriend got it for medical reasons when he was 18..? maybe it's your state, but he showed me the card and everything..even though he was smoking it before he got the card..and he does it because he wants to -rolls eyes-

i think as long as he doesnt do it for recreation it's fine....yes, he's breaking the law. but its for the sake of his life...

Since it's helping him get better, I guess it's ok... but don't you think the doctors might find out? anyways, I think it's ok for him to smoke for the treatment, but he's gotta have some kind of barrier so he doesn't get addicted to it.

Thank you all for your opinions. I told him that the benifits out weigh the wrong in what he was doing. But I did tell him that he shouldn't do it more then once a day because of the fact that he could get addicted or might abuse it. Once again thanks for the help

American marijuana is not addictive, Dutch stuff is though, because it's really heavy and stuff... They put all kinds of shiiiit in....

Oh well I'd just tell him to stop complaining and ask him if he wanted to rather have seizures and a tumor than just smoking pod once a day every day. For real, if he just does it once a day, it'll be okay, because it DOES affect your body in a negative way as well, but I'm sorry to say this, but his body hasn't been 100% healthy so it will take a while before he will see the negative side-effects. When he will turn 21, doctors might have already found some other treatment.

He might also try lower the dose if he really doesn't want to smoke the stuff. Just put more other tobacco in the joint than actual marijuana. If he slightly does that, the joint could become a placebo, which seem to work, according to these books I've read.

    Good luck though :D

Actually to some people it can be addictive. Some of the people I know do it to escape problems and things and they thrive on the feeling they get when they smoke it. But thats normally just people who get addicted to things easily.

    "American marijuana is not addictive"

And neither is American crack, cocaine, heroin or meth lol But seriously, unless you grow it yourself you don't know what anyone has done to anything. I think there are plenty of people who abuse and are addicted to smoking pot and they are not all smoking Dutch lol
