Teachers playing favorites?

Do teachers actually have favorites for no good reason. i understand if you are one of the few actually trying. but this year in one of my classes we have all written tests. me and my friend are in this class and she always gets better scores than me. now i don't mean to sound over-confident or anything but i know that my answers were better than hers. i asked her about because she and i both know that she B.S.ed the entire thing. she said that if girls wear low-cut shirts they get better grades. (the teacher is a guy by the way) i don't wear shirts like that but other people have agreed with her answer. so what are your thoughts?

"she said that if girls wear low-cut shirts they get better grades."

That's not playing favorites, that's being a pervert and if you think there is a problem with his marking take it to another teacher to get an objective opinion.

Umm if the only reason they get better grades is cause they show the teacher abit of clevage isnt gonna help them in life only teach's them that using there body to get something is a good thing.

But yeh think my teachers play favourites to :L my friend Zoe walked into class about 5 minutes late and didnt get in trouble i walk in about 20 seconds after her and get my head chewed off lol

^yeah okay i admit that if i walked in 20 seconds or 5 minutes late i doubt that the teachers i have wouldn't do anything, but i don't take advantage of that

Confession: I was/am always, for the most part, one of my teachers' favorite. :(

I hate it when teachers have favourites.

Or when they come to school in a bad mood and they take it out on you (as in the class) for no worthwhile reason.

    Rantness :)

I am studying to become a teacher and i have had a lot of practice in different classes, and to be honest.. yes teachers do have favourites BUT personally i make no difference between the students i like the best and students that i don't like as much... i grade their work after how well they do on whatever task, and not by how much i like them

Probably all teachers HAVE favorites, but if it affects their grading then it becomes unethical and unprofessional. I think you should go to the principal or someone in administration and talk to them about it.

Teachers do have favorites. My aunt is a teacher and she has favorites. I don't think a person can help it, there's always someone in particular that a person likes out of a group of people.

I completly agree with that, but this is just wrong

Teachers totally have favourites. Asian Dork is correct, some teachers just can't help it. My English and Drama teachers have written 'gifted' next to my name in their register, along with a few other students. It's scary. Haha.

You know I actually wouldn't know about that. I mean I see the teacher's pet. But never seen favoritism from any teacher.

Its funny, when I was in school, all the male teachers would try to discipline me, while the female teachers would try to change me.

Lol...But to the OP I would suggest you actually report what you're friend said, as it is highly unethical for any teacher to give grades based on how high the skirt is..

'Its funny, when I was in school, all the male teachers would try to discipline me, while the female teachers would try to change me.'

That's because you went to school in the 1800's, Noiro :)

'it is highly unethical for any teacher to give grades based on how high the skirt is..'

Agreed. I know my teachers like me a whole lot more than other students because I work hard, and they appreciate that. But having relationships with lecturers when you're at university (although unethical) isn't actually against the law. Well, as far as I've been told, anyway :/

Its not against the law, but it is against most college's bylaws, a professor could easily be fired for having relations with an undergraduate.

It's not only teachers that have favourites but also people in the work force. it's not against the law but it's plainly not right. But yeah in my school teachers do play favorites.sometimes cyz they can't help it. && sometimes for all the wrong reasons It's really unfair sometimes. But then again I was a teachers favourite once in religion class. *shrugs*

Teachers have favourites because well they are human just like everyone else. It's just like you have best friends, good friends and just plain old friends. It's when this certain favoritism effects(sp?) their grading does it become unproffessional. It would be best to tell higher staff about this certain predicament.
