I'm wondering how many people would be interested...

Alright, let me say first off, that I'm sorry Mods if this is in the wrong forum. I wasn't too sure exactly where to put it, so this place seemed to fit best.

Anyways. I've been a member of P and Q for a while now (since mid 2005), and during my stay on this site, I've been a member of many different poetry clubs, active or not, large and small. With that said, I haven't been able to find a club to really settle in, as I always find myself wanting more.

Being a musician, as well as a poet, I oftentimes find myself wondering how many other lyricists we have on the site, what everyone's musical tastes are, ect., and that's where my idea, and my question, comes in.

If I were to create a poetry club dedicated to musicians, as well as music enthusiasts (any genre will do), how many of you would be interested in joining it?

I was thinking within the club we could discuss music more indepth than the Discussion forums provide, as well as personal favorites, ect. Also, perhaps there would be contests relating to music (who can emulate a specific artists' lyrical style the best, ect.).

The reason why I ask this so openly is because, being a student, as well as balancing music, and a relationship on my hands, I'd have to dedicate alot of time planning and getting this thing off the ground. So I want to be able to kind of figure what I'll have to work with, how many people think its a good idea, ect. and from there decide whether I'll go through with it or not.

So, who's with me? Any suggestions as to what you'd like to see? Criticism? Anything?

    I'll check back after work.

I think I would find writing song lyrics less restricting than poetry though I am not sure all poetry should be as formal as many on this site believe it should be.

Sounds like a good idea Side, and probably what I'll end up doing.

As for lyrics being less restrictive, that is true in a sense, but technically, both poetry and lyrics are only as restrictive as the writer's soul desires. :)

I'll look into possibly pming some members and the like and run through the whole idea a few times, draw up some plans, and just run with it from there. (Better to say "I tried" than to say I didnt, right?)

But thanks to those who responded. Gave me a bit of insight on the whole thing.

Thanks for the idea. That will surely help my search along and smoothen the ride out.

I did create the group, and now I'm searching for assistants to help me out. Once I get that out of the way, we're good :D

The groups name is Band of Bards if anyone wants to apply for assistant position.

(clever way of advertising your poems. Please refrain from doing this.
    Thank you

    Amanda B)

I'd be interested in a club like that :D

I'm sorry, Amanda B, I never intended to do that and besides, I didn't know it was not allowed.

    Hey Leth
I think it's an awesome idea
I would gladly join your club and support it, but I'm an assistant in a group with all my friends.
I'm sorry you didn't find what you were looking for in our club but I wish you the best luck with yours.
