Eric Satie- French Composer !!

Hi...
Does anyone know anything about the french composer and author Satie? Famous for his "Gymnopedies".
In school they've asked me to write a 12 page report on him... the problem is I've never heard about him before, and on the internet I haven't been able to find much, just a very brief history.
Does anyone have any more info, or tips on some sites that give more ample information ?
