So my friend asked me this a little while ago and I've been thinking about it, so I'm wondering what you guys think about it:

Do you think emotional pain can manifest itself into physical pain if strong enough?

Think of emotional pain, its a warning sign. Your body needs some sort of attention, sooner or later it could develop stronger. It all depends on your decision.

Stress can cause on certain people upset stomach, can make you go into hives, make your eye twitch, have a head ache and so on. If stress can do that then what can emotional pain do? I honestly Don't know this answer, and it's a great question. Maybe you should go ask your Dr. :D

Yes, when there is enough emotional pain it can cause physical. But it is all like medical. Emotional stress will lead to your body's stress. If thinks are getting this bad you or your friend should talk to someone maybe there are medications that can help with the physical pain it may be like a stomach problem or something. Or maybe they are being too stressed and need someone to talk to.

Not saying they need help or anything.

I think in a sense its very possible. I can recall at times being so upset that I was sick to my stomach, or so angry that I've experience an andrenaline-rush, so for emotional pain to manifest itself into physical pain wouldn't surprise me.

I mean, physical pain (an injury, or sickness) can manifest itself into emotional pain, so why not the opposite? :)

I think It is possible for emotional pain to be linked to physical pain. If you think about it when your in emotional pain you do things that might not be good to you physically. At any rate I still believe that it is possible for them to be linked.

Yeah and I mean I was just looking at this out of curiosity it's not really personal or anything but since there are people who from being in emotional pain cause themselves physical harm (ie: cutting, eating disorders, etc) I believe they are linked too.
But what I really meant to ask is if one doesn't actually cause it on him/herself but they end up feeling really sick and the doctors can't find out why... Could it be because they're just so mentally and emotionally drained out that it takes a toll on their body without them even realizing it?

A good part of almost all pain is psychological, and i know it certainly can feel like physical pain even though its emotional.

Ever read the book or watched the movie "The Secret"? It's extremely interesting! I recommend it.

If you are unable to deal with emotional pain it can be dealt with or relieved through physical pain

    Yes, I think its possible.
Because when I would get sad and start crying, I would do it so much that I would develop a headache or stomach...
    I think it is....

Most certainly. Depression is a difficult thing to deal with especially because of its connection with physical pain.
