i think you should just be straight forward, tell him you like him and itwould be cool if you went together...

If you want a cute way to do it, ask him to come over. Put a sign on your front door telling him to go to another location around the house. When he gets there, have another sign reading:"Want to go to the Sadie Hawkins Dance?" and then come out from some behind something and ask him if he wants to go. If he's your best guy friend, he should say yes!
But the whole sign idea is what my cousin did for his best friend for their prom three years ago, and they've been together ever since!
I agree with the first two posts. If you truly want something, you have to go for it.
