I am really confused and need advice

Okay so here goes...
One of my close friends was recently dumped by her boyfriend. that was like a month ago, and now she likes him again. The only problem is that i really really like him too. We flirt a lot and we're starting to become close friends.... I'm not sure where this is leading, but i am sure that i want to be more than friends with this guy, the only problem is that i don't want to lose my friend either... I'll really value any advice i can get.

i was in this exact same situation a while back. i talked to my friend about it and asked her if it was ok to date this guy cause i really liked him. she said ok but i could tell she was reluctant. so i talked to the guy and told him that i had feelings for him but i didnt want to hurt my friend. the guy, being the gentleman he is, said that he understood but that he liked me too. in the end my friend gave me her 'blessing' but the guy and i just decided to remain friends. hope that helped a bit... and hope things work out for ya!
