Cutting Vs. Burning

I think its odd that there is so much talk about cutting versus any other type of self inflicted pain.

I would think that if people were serious about this, and if it werent such a fad topic, that they would bring up other things, such as burning. I am not suggesting you start, if you dont, but it just occured to me that it isnt discussed, maybe because people dont feel comftorable or maybe just because its not a "fad" topic, like I said.

Any burners that need to talk??

Actually there have been a few things about people burning themselves. The fact that cutting is talked about more is simply because it is the most common form of self harm. Not because people arent seious about it and not because it is a 'fad' topic.

i cut i burn i hit i thump watever. im doin it rite now, im drunk and miserable.meh. all talking does is push u further into this friggin pit.

i agree it not because its a fad topic its jstu mroe common. i cut i actualy never even ehard of burnging until rite now. it sounds worse and think that if your burning then your probly more depress or somthing but i dont no bc...yah... well iv been reading htis wehole site all nite and its jsut making depressed this isnt helping the onli part that helps is that u can write but the fact of everyoen reading it is unseen to me. idont no y im doing it.... i geuss im calling out for help

I've burned my-self alot of times, mostly with a used cig, or lighter...which, by the way, I havn't done in 2 WEEKS..and is about to be 3 if I survive over the weekend!!!

Cutting may be more popular... but what I mostly see in the depression forums are people who need attention, and cutting is more relateable. I think thats part of it too. Burning isnt talked about as much, but I know just as many people who burn as cut.

And Amber, you will make it through the weekend. Keep your head up and keep writing.

I agree with some of these posts. Cutting isn't a "fad". Just because it is a common topic in this forum and it seems to be the more common self inflicted wound doesn't make it a fad.
I have seen some posts on here about burning so there is obviously some people that do it... but maybe it isn't talked about a lot because the people that do it aren't comfortable with talking about it... or maybe they think no one will care or that they will be judged, no one knows really...

i dont think i would ever burn, like i cut really bad but i would never consider burning.

What ever happened to sucking up teenstrife issues until you were old enough to understand how futile they really are?

drinking and drugs won't do anything but numb the pain for awhile... cutting lets the pain go... getting high or drunk for wut.. a few hours.. don't do sh*t.... cutting may leave scars, and so will burns, but cutting does something that drugs, and drinking won't.... gets rid of pain and enger inside and out!

megs can i ask you something..........isn't the reason you cut (or at least for me) for the pain it gives you to take away the pain inside? so really it wouldn't matter if buring hurt too much.....because it would make you feel better!

and why do you cut if you don't like the scars, you could just drink fatal liquids (cleaners) and stuff.

hmm...I think I have to agree with Sonya and Raven on this one...if you cut just to cut, stop, that's retarded. If you cut for attention, stop, it's retarded. You have no reason to do it, so obviously it's for the attention...if I'm wrong, I apologize...but there are people out there that have reasons for it, it actually helps them along with something, it pisses me off when people do it just so others will feel sorry for them, especially like some of the people on psyke.org a lot of those cuts ain't shit...
