Just out of curiousity, why don't you contribute what you think?

I don't know what to think at the moment, there is so much going around about him and how he died. Untill the autopsy is done, I really don't have much to say.

You guys hear about Farrah Fawcett & Ed Mcmahon? It's kind of sad to see three famous people die in one week.

It is very sad that Michael Jackson passed away. I was and still am a fan of his music. As the years went by, I do have to say he did get weirder and weirder..But he will def. be missed. What I do have a problem with though, is that when he was alive, a lot of people hated him, because of the molestion accusations. And now, since he died, he's the the greatest person in the world.

I did hear about Ferrah Fawcett. 62, and died of rectum cancer. =[

I didn't hear about Ed Mcmahon though.

    R.I.P Michael Jackson.

When I heard about Michael Jackson I was in total shock. He was so young (well at least in today's standards) I absolutely love his music as well as the Jackson 5's music. I have pictures all over my walls of him and when I was younger I swore to everyone who asked (and even some that didn't) that I would someday marry him...lol...But even after some of the "excentric" things he has done in the psst I still admire him for all the good he has done/tried to do. He will truely be missed.

Not to speak ill of the dead, but seriously who cares?

He hasn't put out a good record in a long time, he was a practical recluse and clearly not happy at all with how things turned out for him in the public eye.

He also pushed his body too far, and it seems paid the price.

I don't get this celebrity obssession people have, really I don't.

  • john

I'm with you kevin. I'm sure that plenty of scientists, teachers, social workers, etc died this week too. Are they not as important as someone that does a song and dance number. I mean sure, michael jackson changed the face of music (almost as much as his own face) but in the big picture, who really cares. Everyone dies.

Being alittle older than most on here I can remember when all the stuff he did was new. 8 track tapes were fazing out, cassettes were the new thing, music videos were just becoming popular. He was an amazing talent. Its just so sad that like many who experience fame, he lost touch with reality and went off the deep end so to speak.

I agree with Britt. I'm sick of everything being about him now. Even on itunes, all of his music is at the top again, just a few days ago nobody wanted his music. I mean he was the King of Pop, but he is gone now. We are going at some point.

Well I can't rap my head around any of them dying. Especially Micheal Jackson that's some crazy Sh*t right there. But I definitley would grieve more for Farrah Faucet because i like her a lot better as a person and an idol.

Well joe, i don't know exactly what to think. back with the jackson 5 he was incredible. but too much fame, as always, puts one under a microscope. once this happens, they seem to change all aspects of thier life in order to be accecpted. he would have been accecpted by me with out all the plasctic surgery. but the molestation cases are another thing. i wouldn't say that i hate his music, i'll listen to it every once in a while. but i don't go looking for it often.
i don't really like hearing about it when ever i turn on the tv, but what do you expect? he was an icon. the same thing happenes whenever someone big dies.
and to the people who say that we need to be focusing on bigger issues, i agree. i also think we need to get gay marriage figured out. we are spending so much time and money on these topics when we really need to figure out what came first the chicken or the egg? okay maybe not, but you get my point.

All in all I think he deserves a bit of respect.

^ I agree Amanda, I think it is sickening that people can sit there and make jokes about him, seriously get a grip, it was a human life just like you. Why would anyone want to make such horrible jokes about a legendary icon. I wasn't too keen on some of the stuff he did, but a majority of his music was fantastic. I don't care whom you are, you should respect the dead. It makes me sick to my stomach to see people reading/telling these jokes that people made up about him. It just isn't right. Where is the Respect?

The jokes that were going around, just hours after his death was announced were disgusting.

Even if you have no respect for Michael, have some respect for his family. Just like any family dealing with the loss of a loved one, obviously its a hard time for them. I think its a disgrace that while millions are mourning the loss of an icon, others are cracking heartless jokes. It certainly shows just how sick society has gotten. When did death become a laughing matter?

Its sooooo sad that he passed away.. it was such a suprise to me.. the moment i heard about it i couldnt help myself from crying cuz i grew up listening to his music.. i was at work when i heard he died is was horrible but the most horrible part about the whole thing is that it seems like ppl care more now then they did when he was alive.. like the day he died there were soooo many ppl in wal-mart looking for music or clothes with micheal jackson on it.. it was horrible to see how ppl reacted to him dying its horrible cuz there the same ppl who were calling him a child molester.. so its sooo sad how the world works..

When Michael Jackson was alive, I was indifferent about him. I didn't hate him but at the same time, I wasn't really sure about him. I mean, there was the molestation thing and then putting his kid over the balcony. That was pretty weird, but I've always LOVED his music. Most of the people in the world know the lyrics to most of his songs. He was an inspiration to many and his performances were magnificent! I'm sure there will never be another performer like him. Look at the music we have now, it's nothing like Michael Jackson's music. He'll never be forgotten and I was so shocked that he died because it was so sudden. Yes, he did have some issues but nobody's perfect and we don't even know if he really did molest those kids. I'm sad for his children...and I agree the media is going crazy over this but that's the world we live in. It's also sad that when he needed support the most, nobody was around, but now he's dead, everyone is crying...

  • Captivat3d

Oh and another thing, he started singing/performing when he was like what, five years old?? He never had a "normal" childhood and his father use to tell him he had a big nose. That's probably some of the reasons why he's sorta "strange". It seems like his whole life was chaotic...

  • Fluffy

It's funny. When I listen to his music now, I feel an ounce of guilt marauding my mind: I didn't appreciate you the way I should've done, despite the amount of love you got from your truly devoted fans. It's not clear why I'm thinking that way, but I am. Perhaps it's because I realise how much he'd been through in 2005, and to a degree, everybody kind of hated him then. Some hated, whilst others overlooked, misjudged, tried to understand and fathom a meaning for his actions that to him, appeared entirely innocent.
It's easy to point the finger, accuse and debase another. But let's appreciate our God given humanity and not play with a dead man's memory. Ultimately, we are no one to judge.

    Rest peacefully, Michael.

Well I am not trying to get in the middle of a debate that had nothing to do with me. I would like to point out that Michael Jackson has done many things for charities.

I grew up in the midst of Farrah being and icon and then Michael Jackson. I was born in 1970 so I got a good bit of both worlds of Michael. He was my first album and has held a special place in my life since then. Rikki I am not sure how old you are and not that it really matters but what I wanted to state to you was the fact of the awareness that Michaels creativity and musical abilities along with his generosity brought to the world. Back when I was a teenager MTV was the hottest thing around. When the video of "We are the world" came on and showed all of the teen idols and icons coming together as one and calling themselves "USA for Africa". Michael Jackson wrote this song along with Lionel Richie. As you may not have known there were nearly 50 artist who showed for the recording of this video and more than that were turned down or declined. Now as for how that video made me feel..... I cannot tell you how much of impact that video had on me then and still does to this day. I cry everytime I hear the song or see the video. Now for another fact..... this release raised over 60 million dollars in relief for Africa. That in itself is quite and accomplishment. I am proud of the man that Michael was.
As a side note....The accusations that were made about him by Martin Bashir were rearranged video clips that would incriminate the man. Even Bashir afterwards and yes before his death stated that he never believed that Michael had done anything indecent to the children.

Michael Jackson is probably one of the best known philanthropist. He donated and raised millions through his "heal the world" foundation, charity singles, and support of 39 charities.

He has also inspired millions of people to sing/dance, or pursue their dreams. There are many people that probably would say they wouldn't be singing/dancing, etc. if it wasn't for Michael Jackson. Beyonce has even said that she was inspired by him and that she wouldn't even be singing if it wasn't for him.

Maybe he hasn't done anything for you, Rikki, but he has helped a significant amount, probably more than you ever have.

Lets see rikki, he spent huge amounts of time and money helping countless charities and you seemingly spend most your time trolling a poetry site's forums. One to judge.

How could you possibly make that statement ?? A person spends some time on this site and you assume that the person doesnt do their fair share of charity work and helping others!! I'm pretty sure mj did not spend every waking moment helping children or writing checks!!!! One to judge??

  • Captivat3d

Yes, I agree that the value of the donation that the person is giving is important but many people in the world don't even donate at all. Yes, Michael Jackson has a lot of money but that doesn't mean he had to donate to any of those charities. It was his choice to, I mean, he could've just kept all of his money to himself if he wanted to. Michael has a good heart. He's not selfish.

As for the Beyonce statement, I was just replying to what MJ has done and that is inspire millions of people in the world but you didn't have to "diss" on Beyonce and say you wouldn't miss her. For some reason, I still don't think you appreciate what MJ has done, I feel as if you think you've done more. I'm not sure if this is true, but I'm just saying what I think. I don't think it should matter who did more of what, or who had done more for the world because what really matters is the people who did anything at all. Nobody's perfect and MJ sure wasn't but I think we should appreciate the good he did instead of always focusing on the negatives.

I dont think that ppl should make such a big deal about this hes a just a person like anyone else he doesnt deserve this much of a recognition. i mean come on he hung his kid over a boquany and has messed with little boys! he messed up his body and everything , yeah he might have been a good singer but still after what hes done, i have no respect for him i dont even listen to his music because of what he has done.

No disrespect to anyone and Michael, but when people say "Rest In Peace Michael", how can he when everyone won't let him. His music was good to dance to, he was an awesome dancer, and singer, but after he hit 40, he became weirder and weirder. I say let the dead be dead. End of story.

Yeah, I totally agree, MJ isn't in peace yet. And he will always be remembered because he has the number 1 most album sold, and etc.

I'm starting to get tired of hearing about MJ on TV but sometimes there is nothing better to watch since I don't have cable lol but yeah I heard that one of the people that said molested him finally came out and said that MJ never did. It's so sad how after MJ dies he comes out but I guess if he came out before MJ died he could've got countersued. This world is so...messed up. I mean, I wouldn't even be able to live knowing that I said a huge lie that changed someone's life. If someone said I molested a child and I really didn't and then see that almost half the world believes that I did, I would be soo depressed.

I've never thought MJ molested a child and I would never think that of anyone unless there was evidence. I wouldn't want to be accused of that and it just makes me sad that people called him a pedophile when they're not even 100% sure he was or not, I mean, we're just listening to the media.

I watched the whole funeral on TV. I cried through the whole thing. I still can't believe that someone who was walking this earth not even 2 weeks ago is really gone. The thing that got me most is just seeing how his friends and family saw him; human.

  • Captivat3d

    ^ I agree.

A lot of people die because of drugs/medication, their lifestyle, or health problems etc. You don't have to be famous to do drugs/medication. He had a chaotic life and if I was going through what he went through, I probably would be on drugs too, especially anti- depressant drugs.

I saw his daughter, Paris, talk for the first time on TV, and it was soo sad. I wonder who will take care of the children, and hopefully they grow up to be just like their father, an inspiration, and hopefully, they'll contribute a great deal to the world. I just hope they can move on from their dad's death and become strong independent people because of it.

Rikki, I think there are more people in the world that deserve to be hated on, other than MJ (like murderers for example.) But, I don't think it helps at all to "hate" someone. All of us have good and bad sides and nobody can be ALL bad.

Im sorry i read this post late but i feel i need to speak my mind.

Rikki you are one of the many ignorant minded souls that were put on this earth only to make the people who appreciate good people and good music love these situations even more. Because of you Michael loved his fans more then ever before because even after the court cases and non-sense put in magazines, his true fans stuck thruough it all, with him, forever. His personal life has nothing to do with that mans heart and talent and he is truly Gods gift and he came to this earth to do what he was sent here to do and it was just his time to go for his destiny had already been fulfilled. Rikki i forgive you for your ignorance for you are just unable to comprehend what a good soul looks like....

Who cares about the amount an individual donates. We should just be glad that they donated at all! Why even compare?

People love music, we love being entertained. Entertainers are making so much money because we're willing to buy their albums, concert tickets, etc. So, blame our society.

  • Krista

Michael Jackson did so much for charities, and the music world. He was an icon, yet he was a normal person, and yes, like a normal person, he had his problems. But who are we to judge? We all have our little problems too. Just give the man some respect. He deserves respect...hell, everyone should be respected. I'm not going to look to the bad things about him now that he's gone -- Im going to look to the positives.

I watched his funeral. When his daughter, Paris, spoke, that really "humanized" him for me. It really showed that yes, he was a father to these kids, just like my father is to me. Yet these kids are having all their father's problems cast into their lives. Is this fair to them? Let the family grieve. Enough with the MJ jokes.

RIP MJ, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, & Billy Mays
