    Double entendre... kind of.

    Paradoxical unto yourself? Of course.

OK. Ill stop being retarded... its early in the morning. Suicide poems make for good poetry simply because we're not really commiting suicide. Lets face it, 75% of everyone who writes about cutting, depression, suicide, drug use, etc. have never touched a knife or a pill, a needle, or a gun.

Some of it makes for finger-lickin-good poetry though....

i agree, it's a vent for their feelings, that they may not want to share with another person.

All my point is that if reading a good suicide poem is at the expense of someones life it doesnt matter how good the POEM is from a technical aspect, its a bad subject and a bad situation. They can only be good when they dont lead to actual suicide. Thats what I mean...

And I disagree. Most people that write about depression, suicide, etc. Have never even gotten close to the depths of how bad things can be. Yes... everyone goes through hard times, but actual suicide is serious. Its only good to read these poems because we know that the linkelyhood is that the person is still alive when we read them. If we knew everyone wrote suicide poems ONLY because they were actually feeling that way then we would feel differently about them.

I write suicide poems, im not suicidal. I admit I do that like everyone else. Its good poetry... just because I dont actually feel that way, make sense?

Sometimes in life things dont go the way we plan and like my boyfriend tells me,"dont do anything stu*** write a poem about it insted and you will feel better. So I think that writing this kind of poems helps you with any problems that you might have.

this is my first time doing this so i don't know if i am doing this right, but i write a ton of suicide poems just to give a message of like you should be awar that people do this and how alone and depressed they are lead them to it, it's really sad that it happens, but i'm not suicidal i'm not evendepressed just with my poems i just seem to be able to put that emoition into my poems

Whoever said it is better to write about suicide than carry out the act is right - is expression sometimes you just need to, have to get these overwhelming emotions of your chest for some of us writing can help that :o)

ok i have to admitt i only have about 3 peoms that arent about cutting, mostly cuz i have in the past i dont see why everyone makes it up about cutting if you havent tried it then how do they know how it feels honestly not many people are gonna say they have but how are you gonna write about something you know nothing about it. so i dont quite agree with a comment made earlier but i would like to no anyone that hasnt cut but writes poems about it

  • Jacklyn

i disagree with you teddy, i have writen about 100 poems and i probably relate to about 2 or 3 of them personally. i write about suicide, cutting, death, depression, wanting to die, being alone, things like that and i haven't experianced it but i still get the emotion in it, because people always ask "is it true?" if they don't know me, but none of it is and i still get pretty good ratings so must be people can get the emotion they have never felt before, and i'm proff and i bet there are others! PLP

I can see how you write about your feelings into those types of poems, but it's also true that some people write suicidal poetry for the sole perpouse of attnetion and sympathy. You can usually tell these types of poetry apart (the fakes from the heart felts) because those written from true raw emotion are displayed in poetic skill and structure. But yes, most of the time, when a person displays suicidal piece, they are begging for attention and wanting pity and the feeling of being needed.

I agree with this entry "OK. Ill stop being retarded... its early in the morning. Suicide poems make for good poetry simply because we're not really commiting suicide. Lets face it, 75% of everyone who writes about cutting, depression, suicide, drug use, etc. have never touched a knife or a pill, a needle, or a gun."

The majority of the time suicidal poetry is written for sad attention and threats to gain sympathy. though some of them can prove worhty reads, theyre usually from suicidal people, or threats that have proven fatal. this is my opinion because I wouldn't want to believe fake attention-seeking idiots could create a masterpiece.

ok i didnt like the post most of you have made when i use to cut myself i didnt want attention i wanted out, but the only reason i dont do it anymore is because of my poems, if you dont like them then dont write them and dont down grade them. how do you know that only 75%? where have you found that information? i would really like to know. well all im saying is that i disagree not everyone does it for attention they do for a cry of help (yes, some do b/c of attention, but not all) make sure you have read up on suicide before you talk and have nothing to back it up apon.
    peace!

my best work is written on suicide i have to admit that i use to cut myself but my friends told me to sit down and write a poem more on my emotions
but i feel they have more feeling that way, which connects to the reader.

blahblah suicide is overrated. nowadays everybody wants to committ suicide. but ask yourself this-if someone held a gun to your head would you want to die?

  • pinkalias

good point Mandy. Though, there are those who are real out there and seriously contemplate the notion, but you do have a good point for the confused attention-seekers

  • Jessy

yes good point mandy same here i used to want to die untill i came very close know i love life and i wanna live forever

  • pinkalias

    I disagree.
I see what your saying, but there are actual people who want to die, and contemplate over it for years.
You'd have to really understand one of these people to see what I mean (not that I'm suicidal lol) but there really are people who have been abused their entire lives who have never felt a reason to live, or have been isolated to a concept that life doesn't matter anyway. Then there are the people who's lives have changed and have seemed completley shattered and see no reason for existance (ex: some violent rape victims and such) so, i think some people understand the whole action of dying, and wish it to happen. others, as bob said, do it as impulse in a state of depression, or for another's sake

ive been driven to the point where ive wanted to commit suicide, but honestly, i wish people would stop talking about it so much. thats all people write poems on...whatever

  • pinkalias

alright Bob I'll be honest, I'm a little confused as to what your opinion is on this subject.
First you quote "get busy dying or get busy living" which implys that you don't care about suicide poems and that people should either kill themselves or not
(you might not have meant that, but that was the impression that I got from that quote)
And then you write that writing about it can be a beautiful and helpful thing...?
Just wondering if your with or against, or neutral, or whatever.

That was the post I was looking for and I completely agree with everything you just wrote:well said.

Sidenote: I know it's hard to tell online what I'm saying but if I seemed argumentive and quarrelsome I apologize. I meant everything I said in that post, I really was just wondering what your opinion was on the matter. And, trust me, I'm not seeking you out for debate (though you seem like a worthy and challenging opponent) you just seem to have the same interests of topic discussions as I do, promise*

Everyone must think about it one way or another. It is the the final straw. Something that controls you own destiny at your fingertips.
So many times it is not the suicide itself, but what it can represent.

I don't know why I write them. I even wrote a poem about me not knowing why so many people die in my poems. Either by suicide or murder. Just makes the poems better. I take no pleasure of of those who die or are dieing. I just love to write about it. It makes me smile. I don't know if thats kinna sick. Some people will get sad reading them. Or you can be weird like me and just smile.

I've saved 2 ppl from killing themselfs and i didnt even try. i was just there friend. its weird how things work that way. lots of ppl tell me in easy to talk to than most ppl. i guess thats because im kinna screwed up myself. i agree with one person and i agree with the other that competly disagrees. i try to make an understanding of things and my thoughts just split both ways and i understand what one person thinks and even though another person thinks differently i see how there looking from there pont of veiw. thast what a lot of ppl dont do. they only look one way. before you cross the street some ppl look both ways like your expose to. some ppl dont and only look one way or dont look at all. its like some ppl on this site. they dont look both ways they only look one and thats y dont get a complet understanding of someone. they only go by there opinion.
