Goths

What is the definition of a gothic person? I've never heard the same definition twice. I dress in all black, and am depressed a lot. Does that make me goth? Is goth an attitude? Is it appearance? What is it? I'm just interested in know what you guys think it is.

i personly know nothign about goths al i know is that they wear alot of eyeliner...

Um well you are a goth or you arent. I often dress entirely in black, my hair is dyed black, my skin is naturally pale as, but i'm not a goth. Goths scare me. Some of them anyway.

Oh and i wear lots of goth jewelry, but thats for an entirely different reason.

gothic people how fallow the gothic religion trates of this religion are things like wearing blacka dn people who are part of this religion tend to have a depressed way of life but just because u where black and have depresstion does not make u a goth it just means u where black for whatever reson and have depresstion

i where black all the time cus i like it i like the style and im depressed alot most likely cus i have clinical depresstion or just my childhood but im not goth because im agients all religion so to difine yourself as a goth is telling people you are part of teh gothic religtion

I have a question! Do the Visigoths, the Gothic Period, and Goths today have any relation?

Goth is a label something that others use to explain something they cant understand, they just see the black clothes, maybe cuts or depression. Then people around call them Goth’s, its not really their fault because in the world today people have brought there children up to say these things. If they are clever enough to look deeper and see the person inside then good for them and respect that, but for most its to much to ask, for most all they care about is themselves and they cant be bothered to care for others feelings and thoughts.
A Goth to me is someone who looks deeper into things, maybe has a darker perspective but is also very creative and has a deeper understanding and kindness then most. I hate to use any labels and it can sometimes be offensive, but people in the gothic scene, most are very.. well can see pain for what it really is and learn from it, they get on with things and take life’s blows.
But for some young Goth’s feel they must be depressed all the time, when really its nothing to do with that. If becoming someone who wears black all the time, is depressive, cuts, only likes films like ‘the crow’ and listened to music like ‘the cure, dimmu borgir and malice mizer’ is a Goth, then fine to those who confine themselves to one style like it’s a religion… but to me that’s a label.. if a Goth, if I had to use this label on anyone.. its on someone who is themselves and does not tie themselves down, and if them themselves is this understanding person who looks deeper into the world and seeks more then money and profit (who is not afraid to be themselves) … then that’s my view, other may not agree.. but that’s what I think and I’m not scared to voice that as everyone is allowed their own view..

Goth is simply another label that is put on people..like nerd, preps, loser, punk or what not. It is just another judgemental label.

Also to stereotype people as devil worshippers because they wear makeup or dress in black is pretty absurd..

Also being an atheist does not mean you worship the devil, it simply means you don't believe in religion of any kind or acknowledge a God or God.
