Is your boyfriend aware of the reasons why you have the need to cut?

Does he understand them, or is he just aware of them?

Sounds like he doesn't udnerstand exactly what you're going through and how you feel, if he still can't comprehend it. I udnerstand that he's concerned, but I don't think blackmailing you with your relationship is the right way to stop you from doing something to help yourself.
Have you ever thought of doing something to relieve the initial anger and upset, like breaking pencils? Or tearing paper or something? Maybe once you've done that, talking to him about your feelings would actually help you to feel better, instead of having to cut yourself.
I'm not syaing it'll deffinitely work, for alot of people it doesn't, but I think It's worth a try at least.

I know what you mean, but the 'need to cut' is merely self pity and anger mixed up. If you found some way of releasing the initial anger, you're just left with upset, which can usually be lifted by someone who is close to us. In your case, it would be your boyfriend.
