I'm seventeen and my period was always irregular but for the past year it's seemed to get better and more regular. But right now I haven't had my period in seven weeks. I know the first thing you're probably thinking is that I'm pregnant, but the last time I had sex was about ten weeks ago, and since I've had my period after then I don't think that's it, plus I'm not feeling any of the symptoms and I know that's not it. I just wanted to know if there's anything wrong, what are some causes other than pregnancy that could cause my period to be this late? I have had a two month late period before, but that was two years ago. Any info would be helpful. Thanks. |

Can be many other reasons why your period is late such as stress, change in diet, loss of weight, gain of weight, change in medications, an illness and of course pregnancy.. I'd suggest seeing a doctor because any of the reasons I mentioned above can still be quite problematic for your body. You mentioned that you received your periods after the last time you had sex, but do not rule of pregnancy because of this. Some women still get them while pregnet... all anyone can really suggest to you is to see a doctor. |

But still, I haven't had any of the common symptoms of pregnancy at all. I really do think it's stress, I've been very stressed from school and also from my home. I just wanted a little more info before I went to the doctor. If I go and it does turn out to be stress, what can they do? I really don't wanna waste a doctor visit if they can't do anything for me. |

No matter if it's pregnancy or stress or anything else...a doctor can help a lot. sort of why they are there. what can they do? uhh first of all they can tell you a whole better than a poetry site as to what is wrong. and second of all, they can give you medicine and precautions to take if it happens again. |

Thanks, I completely understand what you mean. I wasn't expecting in detail explanations of what's wrong with me. My hopes were that maybe someone else was experiencing the same and could help me out a little. Truth is I have a phobia of going to the doctor... but thanks for your suggestions. |

Heh. I bawl my eyes out every time I have to do blood work. My second to last visit to the doctor I had blood work done, and the probing was rather unpleasant. I spent six hours there before I found out I had an ovarian cyst. I think that's why I hate going there now, especially if it has to do with my lady problem. |

Whoooooa there Amanda. A little harsh on the attack are we? Her responses seemed refreshingly level-headed and gracious, considering the litany of "I"M MATURE FOR MY AGE DONT B SO MEAN" that we usually get on this site. Oof! |

I agree with what everyone else has said about P&Q not being the place for you to find these answers, considering we are not professionals & can not diagnose you, and that you should go to the hospital, a walk-in clinic or Planned Parenthood and go see someone who is professional & can successfully advise you, like a doctor, nurse practitioner or gynecologist. You may know how it is you're feeling, but diagnosing yourself, let alone asking a bunch of strangers online at a poetry site who don't know how you feel nor can diagnose you, is not the way to go. But I don't need to tell you this, you know of course by now. This is just more so me thinking "aloud". |

I was having sharp pains but ignored it, and I ended up passing out on my bathroom floor. I later found out I had a cyst the size of a tennis ball. Everyone is right, the longer you wait, the worse things will get. Glad to see you got the point, hope everything is okay. |

^ Oh wow... I'm glad you're okay. I haven't had anything like that before; I hope I never do. I think it's great that you shared your story. Like Amanda, the two of you have had a similar experience and have insight to the situation. It emphasizes just how serious it can be and that it should be taken seriously. |
