No joke Bob! beaten fair and square! You will just have to try harder next time!

I would like to thank the Judges for taking time out to judge the competition. A fairly run and judged competition.

I'd like to also take this opportunity to thank my fellow "The Club" members for their great work in gaining a clean sweep, with Jane first and Trippetta second, well done.

^^Sour grapes are obviously hard to swallow! I don't know why you feel the need to belittle the poems submitted or the decisions made by Joe and Valedico. I won't deign that the above mentioned poem wasn't good, but others deemed it not good enough. Saying the contest was neither fair, knowledgeable and questionable beggars the question "Why you would be interested in more of the same, and be involved in another of our measly contests"????
We are intending to have another contest but I think we will be challenging another club.... to spread the love....

Throw out a fishing line out you never know who will take the bait do you!...happy days Illuminati

When questioning the integrity of others namely Jane and Luanne you should tick all your boxes from what I can see you haven't ticked any! If you have evidence of foul play, come clean!! All you have is accusations that reek of sour grapes. You say the contest was undeniably unfair!! Where how???

Jane, Luanne what do you know of this?

And of the 7 poems submitted by your club I think only two were free verse!

  • Nicko

I can't see any poem that was posted to any of our members accounts prior to judging!....

Jane and Luanne were apparently excluded from what....???

As to your question "how did the judges know our clubs poems were free verse when all the poems were supposed to be anonymous". As I said only 2 of your poems were free verse! We also submitted free verse poems! If there was collusion the judges would have had to be contacted by one of our members, what information do the judges have? they have obviously contacted you, what information do you have?

Your accusations of cheating need to be addressed before we move on.

Let's leave the judging up to judges. It's not fair to accuse anyone of foul play when both clubs submitted a couple free verse poems, both clubs had the option to post a maximum of 10 poems to the contest, both clubs were informed of the rules... I think you are all being extremely petty and silly.

Do you honestly think "free verse" is a valid style of poetry for a stylized poem contest? I don't.
Regardless, the free style poems were submitted to the judges, they were not left out, so nobody can complain!

It was my fault that our poems were being posted before your club knew the results of the contest. Joe pm'd me the results and it did not cross my mind that he did not pm Luanne likewise. Luanne and I had an exchange of pm's a couple of days ago clarifying these miscommunications.

So, in that, you are actually wrong, and I hope it makes you feel better. No poems were posted before the judging had already occurred. If you are still suspicious, I can take a screen shot of the pm from Joe (which will include the date it was sent) and email you the photo.

I am thankful for mental stimulation, as well as club challenges.
Speaking of club challenges, shall we have another go R.T.V.W.? I'm sure we're up to it. Are you?

P.S. Illum's poem is great. Perhaps with different judges, it would have won the contest. That being said, it's not right to call anyone's poem a "joke". Dude, that's flat out MEAN!
Didn't Thumper teach you, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Happy Thanksgiving and God freaking bless.

    Boohooh oh ho ho ho.

Deign it all you want the inference was there for everyone to read! And get your facts right, we did not call all the shots. Jane did it in collaboration with Luanne, Luanne one of your club managers helped pick the topic as well as picking Valedico as one judge, who incidentally was instrumental in picking the three winners!
I for one am not going to get caught up in some temper tantrum just because Illuminati didn't win and be involved in some tit for tat contest.
This our first inter club contest was instigated in good faith and fun you've managed to denigrate it in one foul swoop....good on you!
I would rather challenge another club than get in another bitter squabble with you over the merits of the judges the rules the poems and who won!

    So, um.... Thanksgiving. About that.

I had a great day yesterday, actually. I'm studying abroad, so it was my first Thanksgiving away from home, ever. It probably could have been a homesick day, but my roommates and I planned and plotted and cooked and baked up a storm, and we ended up having a giant Thanksgiving dinner with 30 people and piles of food. We even successfully cooked a turkey! It was cool for those Americans who were missing home, and also all the Irish, German, and other people who have obviously not had Thanksgiving before. I'm thankful that everyone had a fun time, and that I'm able to feel festive and at home even thousands of miles away from my family and my hometown. I'm thankful for the opportunity to be here while I'm here, and also that I have a good place to go back to when this time is done.

Jane is correct here as she nor her club had no idea we at R.T.V.W hadn't received the results yet.
    The poems were posted correctly.

Sorry Andrew for busting your thankful thread Buddy

"Jordan, such an intelligent response.....twitful even, but what can one expect when they hold the camera on themselves"

Nice retort. You didn't need to further my point, though.

I'm happy because I got to see one of my favorite bands perform tonight and they did an excellent job!

Jordan, you're such a pro giger.

Only someone who is keen on music, would go to a gig and say

    "they did an excellent job"

I say that too, cause I'm aware of the work involved.

Who was it? Please don't say Ben Elton.

They're called Protest the Hero, Kevin. A Canadian metal band. I believe they're coming your way very soon, actually!

The main reason I say "They did an excellent job" is because of the complexity of their music and the fact that they pulled it off so well.
