Why Do You Nominate?

Just curious what makes you decide to nominate a poem for the weekly contest?

It seems to me alot of people nominate their friends week after week after week........

We also haven't had a good debate for a while!

I think you should have to tell why the poem is worthy of a nomination like how you have to tell why a comment is praise worthy.........

Just because someone is your friend, relative or club member doesn't mean you should keep nominating them over and over.........there needs to be a reason in some literary sense........good form, word choice, originality, message, imagery, rhythm, etc. etc.

I personally could care less WHO wrote the poem.....it is about the content, not the author.

It seems to me that it doesn't matter how many votes or nominations a poem has, it is up to a panel who hopefully uses some criteria to pick the best on the list.......I also think they may notice who nominates the same old people over and over again........

Do you ever search for poems by authors you don't know? Maybe there is some unfound talent out here in cyber space............

Good post, im guilty of not keeping up with voting for weekly contest but i am trying more.

basically to me, if i read the poem and think it deserves to win i will vote, somehting that makes me think wow, something that i want to give more than 5/5 for.

i also agree that there is a lot of poems out there that could win, i like searching for poems, even though they might be older poems etc i love searchig them and seeing what they bring up. xxx
