Each man kills something he love in life, is this an inevitability or is it a flaw

"...each ~man~ kills the thing ~he~ loves".

^ I don't agree with that statement. One reason being, I don't think that it would just apply to men but rather to all ~humankind~ as well as, at the same time, depend on the individual; second, I think it also depends on what is meant by "kill", whether it is meant literally to cause death or figuratively such as to be the source of great pain for another, and whether it considers intentional or unintentional acts. After reading a portion of Oscar Wildes "The Ballad of Reading Gaol", it appears to take the many depictions of "kill" into account and in depth. It definitely makes for an interesting read, I must take the time to read the entire ballad.
