Congratulations! Nice work you three!
Evocative
by Melpomene
You -
who stood like Night;
-Reassuring-
painted exotic black skies
to cheeks - drunken
by twilight.
and he who whispered
"one should not sleep alone"..
ran fingertips 'cross -
unstable lips..
with breath that felt like
a thousand lady beetles
-drifting-
a flame upon thy neck..
'tween the verge of
-dusk and dawn-
I -
who stood like shadow;
conjured his lips -
to mine.
As the sound of
-bittersweet wind chimes-
devoured sleeping stars;
in dulcet memories.
My scintilla -
- of waking in
the scent of his arms.
Everlasting petrichor.
and he who whispered
"one should not sleep alone."
penned susurrous words
upon my hand;
that night.
^creative with an interesting word choice. A thought provoking piece.
Breathing Spell
by EvanescentMoon
When the pain of loneliness
and a drunken tongue collide
beneath the emotional skies
born...was an unsung child
...
Dead to the world, I took the leap,
yet on my feet I can never land.
(Just a sore--only to soar
a distant past)
For I have lost
my life's road map, amongst
the byways of reality and
languid petitions of the heart
Not to realize that happiness
was just an imaginary path through time.
A course where untrodden wonders reside
now far-gone
...
To smell the home fragrance
of scented caring and nurturing,
away with the fairies let me be
oh Father, just for once!
[There is no revenge so sweet as forgiveness].
^Unique expression with a lesson.^
Temptation
by Anthony M
My nemesis calls upon me
once again as is her custom,
my mind taken hostage
and emotions turned loose.
Though this foe is unwelcome
I invite her presence nonetheless,
convinced I can befriend her
she slyly laughs at my naivete.
Her ploy unravels slowly at first
luring me into one more tryst,
disarmed by the promise of joy
I succumb to her wicked desires.
I have become my own prisoner
yet I hold the key to my freedom,
but still I give her the power
to use me, control me, slowly kill me.
^This can have many interpretations. It tells a story, many people can relate to this and though a common topic, it isn't cliche.
