This guy and i were dating and then he stopped talking to me for a week and i didnt know why and i kept texting him and i gave up let him have space for a few days and now i asked him if we could be friends and he said yes we could but he's acting weird and distant. does that mean he doesnt wanna be friends and he's just being nice?

Just give him space, and that includes not texting him. If he wants to be friend with you or pursue you in any other way let him be the one to make the attempt, it's obvious your attempts are working and perhaps there is a reason for that.
