An 80 year old man was free today after being held captive for a year. His jailer? It was his wife who is half his age, her lover and her son.

The Frenchman was freed last Wednesday by French paramilitary police.

The elderly man had been kept blindfolded, underfed and had been physically abused by both his wife and her lover.

The wife, aged 45, was jailed today, to await trial. She will be charged with physical abuse, illegal detention and taking advantage of a vulnerable person. Her lover and son will face charges of complicity with kidnapping and failing to report the abuse. They have been released on bail.

As the full story unravels more revelations will no doubt shock the local people.

The man had been locked in the laundry room for a year. The couple were married three years ago but it seems that at the time most people were against the marriage and feared it was not a blessed union. The man had lived a rather reclusive life anyway before marrying.

During the last year around half a million euros have been taken from the man's bank accounts, so it would seem that money was part of the reason for such antics.

Identities have not been made public yet.

Any kind of abuse towards the elderly, disabled, children is wrong....I hope they have to do some time out of this one :(

Nana, hunni, the world is full of stories like this...on the one hand you have these rich older men/ or ladies(!) and on the other side you have your regular gold diggers, that are out to make some easy money. Rarely ever does a spouse, one, two or even three ( depending on the wealth of the significant other) generations younger truly love the other person..it happens, but it is rare. As for the older party: in general they are aware, (be is subconsciously sometimes) of the fact that the other does not truly love them, but having them as a trophy wife/ husband, to show off to their friends and to have the privilege to sleep with her/ him is enough for them.

In this case I guess he outlived the time she thought he had left to live..she became impatient, I guess!
