Recently my fear has been bothering more then usual and I can't stand it. Its even keeping me up at night! I'm afraid somehow my cat will be microwaved. I know its not possible because no one would do that. I just get this feeling like its going to happen like somehow its going to happen and it will somehow be my fault. I can't stand it! And to top it off I recently confided in my boyfriend about it and now he keeps making comments like "Don't put your cat in the microwave on accident she might get to crispy". I'm having trouble sleeping at night because my cat sleeps with me every night and I just keep thinking about her getting microwaved. Its just such a horrible image that I can't get out of my head. I would never let anything happen my cat she is like my baby.

I don't know what to say to that...Do you think your having a dream? You know that it won't happened or maybe you need to talk to someone about it.

Maybe you should find your kitty a new home :)

    Kidding.

Hey, at least you realize it's a fear you need to get over. The concept of any creature being microwaved is horrific, but when you hear that something like that *has* happened in worst cases of animal abuse, it's not an easy image to remove from one's mind, allowing that it is a possibility - no matter how microscopically small.

But I'm going to say the chances of your cat ever even entering a microwave are 1 in a few million. It won't happen by your hands and unless you know any strangely sadistic people, it won't happen at the hands of anyone else you know.

If you obsess over the fear on a daily basis, maybe you should talk to a therapist. Maybe this irrational anxiety is a symptom of something else.

    Well sell the microwave...
OR... you could put like cat proof props in the kitchen so the cat doesn't get in there... it's an unusual fear, but I know the feeling, felt like that when my mom had my baby brothers, because their heads are so soft I always feared I'd be carrying them and their heads would hit the wall and something serious would happen, of course I didn't hold them when I was moving. I bet the cat or the microwave is new, if that's the case it will eventually wash off. But if neither of them is new then you need to get the image out of your head by thinking of other things or getting some kind of therapy... but if you think about it I don't think it's possible to microwave your cat by accident.

If it is as simple as the power of suggestion got you into this mess then the power of suggestion can get you out. As you attempt sleep repeat in a relaxed state I will not worry about my kitty..I will not worry about my kitty..I will not worry about my kitty..I will not worry about my kitty. Even if you do not bore yourself to sleep this should result in a healthy reprograming of your subconscious mind

I would not avoid a therapist if this does not help if a therapist fails, by all means pray

    Get rid of your microwave.

Maybe get some counseling if it's so bad you can't sleep.

I'm with britt. Count from 100 to 0. If it doesn't work then do it over again. The idea is that you are completely focused on the numbers. If it still doesn't work try counting down in any type of strange rhythm. Nothing too fast, though. This will at least get you to sleep at night.

However, about your phobia. Since you are considering drinking every night and it is affecting your relationship with your boyfriend it sounds pretty severe. I would say you could look online for suggestions, however, I couldn't find anything about your phobia online. I would suggest a few therapy sessions to get you going on some kind of plan to help you get over it. I know first hand how helpful a therapist is in situations like this.

I hope you figure this out!

Lol that is hilarious. I'm quoting the random girl on the poetry site on facebook if you don't mind. haha

but counting back from 100 really does help you fall asleep and is probably a lot better for your liver.

throw the cat in the yard. it's a lot more dangerous out there than your microwave is and that will take your mind off of him getting toasted in there. Promise! lol
