Why Do YOU Write Poetry?

It's really quite annoying me now. People keep asking me to vote on their poems and I can't quite understand why?

Poetry should be about self expression, not getting them on the top rated poems.

So, why do you write poetry?

Because it's such a release! Writing down your thoughts and feelings on paper feels so much easier than saying them. And then they can be remebered. It's also a help for other people that are going through whatever you are going through too, because it's nice to know that you can relate to someone who shares the same thoughts and feelings as yourself.

DO you get offended if people rate it down?

It's on my profile, but I write poetry to elevate my writing.

I think it's working too. It is also improving my confidence in general (which could be a problem considering my already sky high self esteem).

i write poetry to express my emotions and to help people understand me and how i feel. poetry is a beautiful form of art and expression and everything i write is a small part of me. without poetry to help me through life id be lost . . .
