Lets talk about DCM

    ROFL

sure, Anna, as long as it's gone, I'm fine with that.. unless, of course, the majority thinks otherwise :)

Well Anna, it's gone right now but we're talking about it because it might be reinstated.

    Opinions are welcome.

Amanda, Princess, Anna - against (I know I'm missing some or stating the wrong names even)

Britt, me, Dreamer, chindychong, Chelsey, the other mods, Sibs - for (I know I'm missing some!)

It truly is desired by THE CLUB and Page by Page but not by Phoenix Rising or Release the Voice Within.

So how about we let this be known and put DCM back up for the former 2 clubs and not for the latter two.
Other clubs can decide which side they take as time goes by, but for now, I think our solution is right in front of us and it's in the words I just posted.

If you like it... do it.
If you don't like it... don't do it.

Sibs and Bob have both hit the mark.

Let's stop complaining, accept that DCM isn't for everyone and is for some... and move on :)

As I said, first time I see rules split up for people and to hell with others. new concept concerning rules. especially when it's just applied on this exact rule. wow.

but then who excatly is going where, Jane? of course you and Britt back in eachother's clubs as before. but where are those other members going? no where right? is it again you and Britt alone waiting for others to join? shouldn't we at least wait for having a list of a respectful number ready to join both of those clubs?

"As I said, first time I see rules split up for people and to hell with others."

Nope, you keep repeating yourself and I keep telling you why you're wrong. The rules apply to EVERYONE. If you want to do DCM, do it. If you don't, don't.
Wow, I sound like a broken record. Will you please just accept the facts?

"but where are those other members going?"

Well, we can definitely compile the list and make it public. We already have the list in the mod forums... we'll discuss posting it for everyone to see. We already were discussing it actually.

  • The Princess

Well, tell you what, it's you who will be dealing with the mess and drama anyway. have it your way.

''Well, we can definitely compile the list and make it public. We already have the list in the mod forums... we'll discuss posting it for everyone to see. We already were discussing it actually.''

yes, that would be better. I mean there should be nothing to hide since second accounts will be public and with all info on, is there?

so I guess you're not pm'ing managers? well, can't say I and others have not tried.

Sorry guys I haven't yet read all the posts above as I can't get my screen to brighten so I am having a rather hard time reading all the print ... Yeah bad eyes here ... lol
So please excuse me if I repeat anything that someone else has said.

Being the club manager of RTVW I just thought I would step forward and offer how I feel about DCM and then hopefully other managers will also.

I don't like the thoughts of DCM for my club and I will give the reason and then tell you a few things I do like

    - RTVW is a very close knit family. New applying members now have a process they go through before they are accepted in to the club.
It doesn't involve just me as a manager or my assistants to accept someone. The entire club has a say in the acceptance of new members. Most of the RTVW members have been together a long time and I can't say we are just a club ...we are a family.
Not that we don't want new members but I want everyone in the club to feel safe within the walls of RTVW. So we try to be careful of who is accepted in to the club.
If a member has a problem with someone who is applying ... "not just a plain old I don't like him/her" but a valid reason why they don't want this applying member in the club ... then we (as a family) don't accept the new member.

So now for why I don't like it ...
    - When or if members from RTVW would join 2 clubs their participation level would drop. It is very hard to stay active within 1 club let alone 2.

    - And that would be the same for members joining in RTVW on DCM.

    - Then there would be the arguments. "But you let in XXXX why am I not accepted.

    - Participation levels drops dramatically/ club to club challenges would be impossible/ and when someone gets upset in one club eventually they will bring the drama to the other club ... then everyone is fighting.

Now what I do think is a cool idea mentioned by Britt is the separate merging of 2 clubs for club challenges.

For example ... RTVW & Phoenix Rising merged to one club (one separate club apart from their own individual clubs) where all members were included from both clubs ... as one ... for club challenges/collabs/mentor/men-tee .... anything POETRY related.

It would be strictly poetry related. Now personally that I think would be a cool idea. Everyone could share their poetic knowledge/ have fun challenges where no one is offended because they think the judges were being unfair ect ....

It would be strictly a poetry community. Their own personal clubs would be still their own personal space where each would have their own daily threads and such.

Participation levels on P&Q would increase because there would be more people involved in challenges. Not the boring challenges where 5-6 people join but challenges where 20 or more members become involved.

There would be more poetry discussed because after all this originally was designed as a "poetry site" .

There would be no need for 2 accounts because if I am correct only the managers would need a separate account. (I could be wrong though) but I think members can join 2 clubs under their account name. (not suppose to though ... lol ... but I think they can)
RTVW has a club account so it would just be a matter of all managers creating a club account to use.

Merging clubs could be changed every few months if wanted and it would only be a matter of excluding members of one club and then adding the members of the next club. So there wouldn't be a whole whack of new clubs gone dead cluttering up the clubs list.

And who knows ... maybe ... it would help people expand their poetic skills and knowledge by being in challenges/ collabs and such with different clubs.

Now maybe some of you will think this idea is stupid and some may like it. To me is seems pretty cool.
RTVW would stay RTVW ... a family with our own daily chatter and discussions. And the club we would merge with would be strictly for Poetry discussion and poetic growth.

I know personally I would be all for merging with Phonix Rising as strictly a Poetry club. Now I can't speak for the members of RTVW nor Phoenix Rising or any other clubs for that matter.

But that to me would be a pretty darn cool idea.
It may also increase the commenting/ critiquing on people's poetry outside their individual clubs.

We would need a list of active clubs that would be willing to give it a shot and all ... and if it causes conflict then we just chop it's head off ... and if it becomes a success then horrayyyyyyy.

But seeing that we have only few active clubs maybe it will draw out the less active clubs.

As I see it we have RTVW, The Club, Phoenix Rising, Page by Page & Standing Outside the Fire that seem to be the most active clubs with active club members that we see online the most.
Maybe we could start with these clubs and see what they all have to say and if they agree/disagree.

Let's get the Poetry back In P&Q

Anyway just a thought ... call me an airhead if it makes no sense at all ... lol

Same here. I'll all for the idea Luanne as long as it's Phoenix Rising and it's a different separate all poetry club for challenges and such. :) and of course provided that real clubs remain private.

    that would be wonderful..

and I have no problem with a link actually. since it's a poetry club. I trust both clubs, mine and P.R. enough to keep the link. not to mention that if someone wanted to like spread the link they can easy get it.

I'm open to all suggestions though, provided we all agree. :)

"yes, that would be better. I mean there should be nothing to hide since second accounts will be public and with all info on, is there?

so I guess you're not pm'ing managers? well, can't say I and others have not tried."

There is nothing to hide unless someone starts harassing people who participate in DCM. That would be cruel and I hope we're all mature enough to think twice before doing something like that.

Never did we say we won't pm managers. We'll try it.

"not to mention that if someone wanted to like spread the link they can easy get it."

Maybe I missed something but you are suggesting that because hacking is easy we should accept it?
Sorry, I'm hosting a party right now, can't read the last few posts... just skim.

    I'll be back later.

  • The Princess

Nope, Jane, we were discussing a totally different Issue. just read before you post or make assumptions. you're giving wrong impressions.

and I don't think anyone would harass. what in the world would they say? bad you for being in two clubs? plus there is a complain button, you see.

Luanne, personally, I think you have come up with a brilliant idea...you are one very smart lady...sign me up if the rest of my club agrees..
    ^^^
Thank you Billy Rob but the credit all goes to Britt I must say for it was one of the suggestions under the DCM

Britt could there be a way to test this maybe ?
Like if I could start the club on a test under the Club RTVW account and see if any members are able to join without creating accounts?

It would all be here on the main forum so it's out in the open and all will know it is a trial.

Can I call you an airhead even if it made sense? LOL
    ^^^
Sure Darryll calls me a grumpy ole bear so airhead would be nice for a change ... lol

I meant every club knows it's own members. both our clubs are close and believe me we'd notice a stranger posting. my idea was mods making, lets say, two or three clubs for those poetry clubs, and giving managers the links to it and managers giving them to us to bookmark them. which is easier than having separate accounts. I said I trust both clubs. and what I meant by links are easy to get is that you can easily copy it once you're accepted in. so unless you trust those inside second accounts or links it won't matter. (just explaining myself here)

but it's all up to you mods to choose since you're the ones monitoring it as you say. haven't thought about that.

p.s. I was not talking about DCM into private clubs but Luanne's idea of an all poetry club merging two clubs.

but as I said, it's up to you.

    exactly. couldn't agree more..

  • Lu

Britt I'll try and join your club with the RTVW club account and see if it works.

If it does it would only be a matter of getting a F award to start a club I think. I'm not to sure on the awards thing but I think it is something like that.

  • Lu

Sorry Britt it didn't work :(

But what about a strict rule that members could have the 2nd account but must use their P&Q name followed by their club name. Like Luannertvw ... Cindypr ... ect

Well, Britt, I think part of the miscommunication is some of us not taking time to discuss this rationally.
    ^^^
I agree Billy Rob. I understand everyone's side. I too get flying by my tongue sometimes but if we all work together it will all work out beautifully.
When we all are shouting ... no one is listening because it takes all our energy defending that we can't hear each other.

So let's have a little community love and find some solutions to better our beloved P&Q

I have a deep love for this site and ya never know maybe someday we all will get to meet in person. And that would be pretty dang cool :)

The Club and Page by Page wouldn't that be a scary Dynamic Duo?

  • Lu

Confusion might arise when/if they would do challenges, and it'd be a club vs club, but thats the only 'bump' in the road I see there? Lu?
    ^^^
I think it would all work out fine. The members who may want to participate that are not in a club could either 1) chose a club side (so they would have the rtvw or pr after their name
    or
    2) be assigned to a club to even out the amount of members on each side when challenges and such would happen

I think Cindy being the sweetheart she is and how much she loves this site would be very excited to join in on this sort of thing.

And maybe more and more clubs would like the idea too and want to do the same.

Everyone is then happy :) and I'll go from grumpy ole bear to cuddly cub ... lmaooo
Dang I'm getting old ... lol

Hey maybe you guys would like the idea if ya's tried it.
The if we could find another active club for SOTF to pair with (if they wanted to try it) we could have soooooo much fun with challenging each other.

Sorry I'm running wild now ... lol
I just get so excited with fun stuff. *jumps up and down*
