A man went to trim his hair and beard. As always happens, he and the barber chatted about this and that, until commenting on a newspaper article about street kids the barber stated:

    - As you can see, this tragedy shows that God doesnt exist. Dont you read the papers? So many people suffer, abandoned children, theres so much crime. If God existed, there wouldnt be so much suffering.

    - You know something? Barbers dont exist.

    - What do you mean, dont exist? Im here, and Im a barber.

    - They dont exist! insisted the man. Because if they did, there wouldnt be people with such longs beards and such tangled hair.

    - I can guarantee that barbers do exist. But these people never come in here.

    - Exactly! So, in answer to your question, God exists, too. It just so happens that people dont go to Him. If they did, they would be more giving, and there wouldnt be so much misery in the world

    MORAL number TWO (:

    (Narcissus by Caravaggio )

The Alchemist picked up a book that someone in the caravan had brought. Leafing through the pages, he found a story about Narcissus.
The Alchemist knew the legend of Narcissus, a youth who daily knelt beside a lake to contemplate his own beauty. He was so fascinated by himself that, one morning, he fell into the lake and drowned.
At the spot where he fell, a flower was born, which was called the narcissus.

But this was not how the author of the book ended the story. He said that when Narcissus died, the Goddesses of the Forest appeared and found the lake, which had been fresh water, transformed into a lake of salty tears.
Why do you weep the Goddesses asked.
I weep for Narcissus, the lake replied.
Ah, it is no surprise that you weep for Narcissus they said, for though we always pursued him in the forest, you alone could contemplate his beauty close at hand.
But.. was Narcissus beautiful?the lake asked.
Who better than you to know that? the Goddesses said in wonder, After all, it was by your banks that he knelt each day to contemplate himself!
The lake was silent for some time. Finally it said:
I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful. I weep because, each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, in the depths of his eyes, my own beauty reflected.
What a lovely story, the Alchemist thought.

"The first one is very cute! Though I have to say... if I don't go to the barber, I don't grow a beard :)"
Some see that as random, others see it as the work of I am

If you were not here you could not ask a wise question

I Am that I Am (Hebrew: pronounced Ehyeh asher ehyeh is a common English translation of the response God used in the Hebrew Bible when Moses asked for His name (Exodus 3:14). It is one of the most famous verses in the Torah. Hayah means "existed" or "was" in Hebrew; "ehyeh" is the first person singular imperfect form. Ehyeh asher ehyeh is generally interpreted to mean I am that I am, though it more literally translates as "I-shall-be that I-shall-be."

I meant it as it's a cute little analogy, but not very accurate :) You don't need a barber to shave your beard or trim your hair... you don't need God to keep you clean and straight. But what Michael said is cool.

    Well people have different beliefs..
Anyhow ,the author ddnt mean we need god to stay clean. But he was telling the barber god doesnt exist for those who actually dont seek him in the 1st place

To know you know nothing is the highest level of wisdom any human can achieve in life.

Should I say that I love intestinal fortitude because is often confused with spiritual fortitude?
"To know you know nothing is the highest level of wisdom any human can achieve in life."

The wise men sought the truth and it was the truth that changed the world
The heavenly bodies will turn the tide
To know God is to know everything and to know everything is to be like gods
    Can humility be mastered?

All wise men know this one thing: nothing can be known for sure. Only God knows all, because He IS All.

Humility comes natural to all great people, it is a trait of the little people to show off their ignorance. "He who talks loudest has the least to say."

    On Self-Knowledge
    Kahlil Gibran

Your hearts know in silence the secrets of the days and the nights.
But your ears thirst for the sound of your heart's knowledge.
You would know in words that which you have always known in thought.
You would touch with your fingers the naked body of your dreams.

And it is well you should.
    The hidden well-spring of your soul must needs rise and run murmuring to the sea;
And the treasure of your infinite depths would be revealed to your eyes.
    But let there be no scales to weigh your unknown treasure;
And seek not the depths of your knowledge with staff or sounding line.
For self is a sea boundless and measureless.

Say not, "I have found the truth," but rather, "I have found a truth."
Say not, "I have found the path of the soul." Say rather, "I have met the soul walking upon my path."
For the soul walks upon all paths.
The soul walks not upon a line, neither does it grow like a reed.
The soul unfolds itself like a lotus of countless petals.

Artistic inspiration, sudden creativity in artistic production
Biblical inspiration, the doctrine in Judeo-Christian theology concerned with the divine origin of the Bible

I do not wish to hide my love for sunshine

The alchemist may have found balance from Greek mythology. I find sunshine not to be as narcisistic as the mythical lake, yet more enlightening

"Paulo Coelho was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[1] He attended a Jesuit school. As a teenager, Coelho wanted to become a writer. Upon telling his mother this, she responded with "My dear, your father is an Engineer. He's a logical, reasonable man with a very clear vision of the world."

It is easier to take a catholic out of the church than to take the catholic out of a catholic
The story of the alchemist and Narcissus leads me to believe we may share an interest in chemical balance through spirituality

Haha :) lol mike.. you're great!

PS..ya would even be much more surprised if you read " The Alchemist" as a whole novel ( if you haven't yet).

Most the things that I have learned about life, I learned as I read the complete work of this writer.
He is a FIELD of knowledge and wisdom.
