A relationship with god backfire.

When I was about seven, I asked god into my heart. But I am older now and can think for myself and not let my parents make decisions for me. I have asked god into my heart, but now I don't want him there. I no longer believe he exists. Is there a way to take back my prayer? Or am i stuck being his 'child' for good?

  • BehindTheSmile

Because someone said once you ask him in your heart then you cant take it back. i believed he existed when i prayed but now i dont.

He doesnt exist. you can take it back. but only by saying to your parents he doesnt exist

I dont relly understand it all either, i know something is out there some where but i just dont know... i was just wondering if there really is a god, does he still think im his child if im wrong or whatever

  • BehindTheSmile

But if everyone is his child, then why does he send them to hell?

  • Chris

Like Britt said it's all about what you believe. If you believe in hell and God sending his children there, think of it like this.

God is a parent and you are a child. When a child misbehaves usually the parent punishes the child. It may seem excessive burning in hell, but each parent has a different idea on what is and isn't excessive.

It's all about your point of view and your own personal beliefs.

I have a hard time believing in Hell because I know sometimes what was translated as Hell, referred to the dump outside the city walls where garbage and bodies were burned.

To me, if there's a Heaven, there must be a Hell.
I am a Christian and proud. I have taken God as my Savior.

Of course, I'm not very sure what to think...if you believe in God, and love him, and do all the right things, you should go to Heaven...but what if you believe in God and DIDN'T do your job as a Christian? You acted like you loved God, but you were completely someone else and? You should go to Hell for pretending to be someone who loved God when they didn't.
But if you don't believe at all, how could you go to Heaven of Hell if you don't even think they exist? Unless you really are a great person who is nice and God chooses you for one of his Angles.
Or you are bad enough to go to Hell...

Hmm...I'm not very sure about this.
Honestly, I think all of this is very confusing.

Hell is eternal and because of the nature of time no one has expericed eternity. Darkness can only exist in our minds as a substance. You cannot take the dark out of a cave. I have witnessed people living in a peice of hell by thier own choice. Free will gives us all the power to reject parental love

I don't believe evil or darkness was created by a supreme being. Hell is where God is not

  • H. Elizabeth

Reincarnation.....as in after death, you're brought back as someone or something else? If so, ,yes. Partly...but I believe reincarnation would be the works of God. If you have ever watched "The Notebook" it might explain some reincarnation stuff. "The Notebook" is how I came to believe in reincarnation.

    No problem (:

And you really do need to see it...it's amazing (:
The point of the movie is: Two people fall in love when they are younger and the girl says "Noah, if I die, do you think I could be reincarnated as a bird?" So later in the movie, the girl, Ally, is married to Noah but Ally is diagnosed with alzheimers so of course she starts forgetting. But Noah reads to her a journal everyday of their life together. Well, everyonce in a while Ally remembers who Noah is and they fall in love all over again. The doctors believe Noah is insane, but it is a mircale-- the works of God. Noah becomes attatched to a swan he sees at a pond outside of the nursing home and he talks to it and feeds it everyday. He believes it's Ally. In the book, Ally dies, and when she does die, the swan doesn't come to Noah anymore.

Okay so that was a review.......so I really hope you see that movie (:

Of my loving God, calling me home

They'll Never Let Me Into Heaven by Michael D Nalley TC

They'll never let me into heaven, to them it don't matter how I pray
Heard the man every word he said, you know, he may have lead me astray
I bare my sin unto the whole world, and in the end I'm the one who'll pay
They'll never let me into heaven, do you understand me, when I say,

They'll never let me into heaven, because I will only make it rain
With the misery of confusion, swirling around in my troubled brain
I'd really like to go there though, if I did not have to bring my pain
They'll never let me into heaven, they will only ask me to explain

They'll never let me into heaven. they won't if they want their peace of mind
I really searched so hard for the truth. I know I can't learn it from the blind
When they got their own backs to the sun, how can they see the truth from behind?
When we are walking down the wrong road, the truth really is so hard to find

Maybe I could sneak into heaven, slip in, in the darkness of the night
With all of those clouds out of the way maybe I could truly see the light
Then everyone would not judge me, seeing me without their cloudy sight
They'll never let me into heaven, because they do not think I am right

They'll never let me into heaven because I will not sing that old song,
Of all the self-righteous hypocrites, the ones who do not know right from wrong
You know they've been calling what is hate, the love of neighbor for way to long
They think heaven is for the mighty, not for the weak ones, but for the strong

They'll never let me into heaven because I will never understand
Why the man sold the only true King, to the false earthly kings of the land
They're not interested in the truth, and they just want to make a demand
For those thirty pieces of silver, they say you and I can hold His hand

They'll never let me in their heaven. I may not want to go there anyway
You know it might not be the heaven, of the One Who taught us how to pray,
The One, Who told us we should forgive, all of our trespassers everyday
Lord, please have mercy on all of us, Lord when You come on that judgement day

Does anyone here believe in reincarnation? thats kinda what im leaning towards now.. and thanks for all the answers... it really makes me think

I don't believe in Homogeneous immature demons
No pun intended though I find it hard to look at a gant avatar and not think of them

A 'Gant' is something that happens continuously, and won't stop I will grant you

When I think of rebirth I believe christians have placed a stigma on the term reincarnation as opposed to God incarnate. A wise man said the moment we make Love a god we are going backwards for God is Love.

"A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell. An explanation of cause is not a justification by reason. "Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important. "Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil.

Okay, i really hope what i am about to say doesn't offend anyone and if it does I'm really sorry. i totally respect everyone and what their beliefs are and its everyones OWN to choise to believe what they want.

Anyway, i wasn't brought up in a very strict "religious" home. my mom is jhewish and dad christian. i mean i did sometimes attend sunday school and church with my friends who were christian and when i was thirteen i had my batmitzvah. (i use to go to sinagogue just about every saturday) so i pretty much got a tate of both those two religions.

the thing that puzzled me was how contradicting each religion was. for example the jews say Jesus is dead and never rising again. whilst the christians say he is going to come back (i don't know the exact details because I've never been a really hardcore religious person and after my batmitzvah i kind on stopped going to sinagogue etc...) there are so many religions out there and everyone is entitled to believe in what they want.

my PERSONAL belief is that religion is a man made war that kills, God saves. i believe strongly in God but just not religion because as i said it just contradicts itself too much.

None of us really know where we'll go after we die but i think you just have to be the best person you can be and treat others the way you would want to be treated.

Is there a way to take back my prayer? Or am i stuck being his 'child' for good?"

Why not ask him? After all even if you deny him you still believe he exists...

But I actually pity those who have no belief systems...

  • Shellaine shelli

Yeah, after seeing the contradictions religion has i just chose to go the same route as what Dave mentioned. treat others as you would want to be treated and just be the best you can be:)

From what i see. It has always been misunderstood.More often than not people think that joining a religious sect means a person has faith and thus will be saved. Having faith and religion are 2 separate things. You can have faith without religion and vice versa. In my humble opinion, the 1st ones better, but if you can, have both. I agree with brother Dave dude and Shells here. If you ask me, DO WHAT YOU WILL, AS LONG AS IT HARMS NONE, come judgement day and youll face it with a smile :D knowing you did good, well, there might be some stains here and there but still good nonetheless, lol..... Eh, but then again, thats just me and my opinion about things. Blessed be! :D

If you don't believe in Him, then what do you think is in your heart?

  • He is the Reason

First, Hallucinostic, I loved what you posted :) Very true, faith and religion are very different and you don't need one to have the other. As long as you have faith in the good of things and strive to harm none that's whats important in my opinion. Blessed Be.

Secondly I was raised in a christian home but through events I lost faith that there was a god when I was 8, flash forward, I'm 17, lost and alone and I stumble to the door of a church because of a friend. I become a youth leader there, re-devoted my life to god, got baptized and all that. I worked hard to follow god, be good and was very active in my church until 2 years ago. Now? Now I'm 21 and no, I don't think there is a god in the form that the christian bible teaches anymore. If anything I view him a lot like Zeus, the greek god, up there just dabbling his finger in our world for amusement and when he's bored causing chaos in our lives, pretty much a big jerk.

I believe in both heaven and hell though but more...like in the movie "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams, if we don't do good in our lives then we go to hell, but hell is what we make it. Our worst fears, our nightmares, make up our own personal hells and the same with heaven but it's what we dream about and our happy memories and what we love. Each their own form. I believe in fate as a strong moving force that gives us purpose for life and that there's a spirit that listens, I have faith, but no god as such, and that we each have a destiny to fulfill but god as a whole? Nope. How could there be this loving, kind, forgiving god that they talk about and yet so much heartbreaking, horrible stuff happens every minute of every day?

I think he's just something someone made up because they wanted some comfort or to give their child something to hold onto when something they loved died. But that's just me.

Do the best you can, try to bring no harm, believe that there's still good and do the best you can to bring that good into the world and spread it. That's about it
