    Lollop LOL-uhp \ , verb;

    1. To move forward with a bounding, drooping motion.
    2. To hang loosely; droop; dangle.

    Connection to "lollygag?" A slower "gallop?"

    Yeah, seems to be a mixture of loll and gallop. This reminds me of the word 'galumph', which is a slightly more physical word invented by Lewis Carrol, meaning 'to gallop triumphantly'. I use it all the time. You'd be surprised how many words were invented in the poem 'Jabberwocky' alone. I think the word 'chortle' came from there. Many of the words there don't make sense dictionarially, but make glorious sense nonsensically. Mmm...phonesthemes...

    I purchased a lollypop and lolloped home to Lolland to lollygag like the lolmaking lollapaloosa I am.

    The Old Grey Mare

    The old mare would lollop back to the gate
    As if to say to me I cannot wait
    To return to my home after I comb
    The pasture for grass and randomly roam

    I remember when she was a filly
    Galloping over the fields so hilly
    Jumping over obstacles with such ease
    In the late twilight of a summers breeze

    But, now like her, the skies are very grey
    She gets a bit slower everyday
    I know it may sound so cliche' of me
    To say she is not what she used to be
