    catherine,

sometimes i end up doing the same thing. i think that it's because when ur writing, your mind like overflows with so many thoughts and ideas that it's hard to keep yourself from mixing some of them together. here's my advice: maybe you can take the beginning of your poem and separate it from the end and make two....just try adding on to the start and the end. i've done this before and it seems to work. good luck! have a kewl day, l8ter!

I do it all the time - my advice is to run with it. Some of what I consider my best pieces have come like that.

Happens all the time, like Eirisa said, sometimes you need to let poems flow their own course, they all lead to the same ocean.

Good poems lead the poet, the poet does not lead them.

i think if you just let dtuff naturally fall out of your head it's like the best stuff you can get!
i think feelings lead to other feelings and i guess it's pretty cool cuz it's natural and true.

heres a hint (i used to do it too)

try reading it after ever few lines...so the lines stay freah in your head...along with the whole idea of the poem. so after u write, lets say, 4 lines GO BAC TO THE BEGINING AND RE-READ WHAT YOU WROTE. works for me....ALSO that works sometimes if u can't think of another line to write...you get the flow going and one sometimes just comes into your head...TRY IT what do you got to loose?

I believe If you write with multiple emotions, you can still save the poem itself. It just expresses more then one thing you feel about. Just give it a title that can explain both emotional topics you picked! its greeat! I dont normally come up with multiple topics but i have in the past. I just go with the flow. Good luck and have fun with it!
