Why do we as people know someone is not good for us but continue to be with them anyway, "fall in love", get played and still take back the person who played us and broke us down in the first place? is it because when it all comes down to it we fear being alone, so we settle for less?

It's a base sexual attraction. Be it physical emotional or stimulation from persona and not much more.
