Elect a Mod!

I thought this would be a rather interesting idea. It's just for fun and quite harmless. Of course I would love seeing it enforced someday, but I am not holding my breath on it.

So I want every member to, lets say, elect a few names/members they see fit to become Mods.

Just imagine that our recent Mod empire fell and now every single member:

1- Has a chance of electing/voting for 5 mods (more or less). who would you pick?

You can state names only or names with reasons why.

2- Has a chance of becoming a Mod.

You can suggest your name and why you see yourself fit for the position, as well as what changes you'll make, what would you add to what Mods do now and what would you remove/cross out, in other words, tell us your program outline.

3- Has a chance of being serious, sarcastic, whomsoever or whatsoever they wish.

You can make a total imaginary/non-existent member and introduce it to us; something like Robin Williams' Mrs. Doubtfire: ''I'm a hip old granny who could hip-hop, bebop, dance till ya drop and yo, yo, make a wicked cup of cocoa.'' xD Make a total imaginary character out of yourself and give it the characteristics of the perfect mod in your opinion or the worst mod. Be creative!

We'll be having winners!

Oh btw, since you're here, can an OP ask for nothing to be moderated from a certain thread? (unless it's spam of course) meaning can we make this free from any modly powers? even if me, Nicko and Bob declare war on each others accounts? please? I just don't want someone to go editing the member's post just because they didn't ''behave''. not to mention it would be interesting to see how everyone would act.

I even have a better idea. More of a middle ground. What if we'd let them (those who disagree) talk it out unless ONE OF THEM asks for a mod's interference?

Robert, I agree mostly with you. funny, someone was asking who would be the website's god mother now after Ann Marie left and I found myself thinking Anna stephens!

If Lu or Nicko became mods, I'll be dead or more like killed (joking). I'm immune. I actually find Nicko to be fair despite the fact he doesn't stand me. He has my vote!

It would be entertaining to see Kevin back. I wasn't around when he was a mod but I heard a lot of stories and witnessed what happened afterwards.

Debbie would make a terrific mod, she's fair and with a strong character, actually I can see her as a head mod. so my vote, of course, would go to her. but sadly, knowing her, I can't see her accepting such position. not now anyway. =[

Anyhoo, I don't care who becomes Mod, at the end of the day, its not a power status, Anyone who could give up their time voluntarily to take care of this site deserves my praise.

You definitely need to want to be a mod. First, there's being active enough. If you're actually active enough, you'll probably hate the job and it will eat away at you. You have to believe in your cause even if (and it will happen) nobody else does and you're constantly being pinned as the bad guy. It pretty much sucks.
Be a mod for selfless reasons otherwise you'll be a bad mod...

There are still those people out there who think I'm not being honest and think somehow for them it will be different. WAHAHAHA!

Hellon, mods look at suggestions from members and then discuss them (including their own suggestions) in the mod forums. Then there's a mod vote and majority brings the mod in.

I believe so far all mods who have left have requested to be demoted.

Hellon, My guess would be that Janis chose the first mods then afterwards mods chose other mods to fill in the gaps of inactive mods or mods who resigned. I think.

I would like to see an election someday to determine which mod should stay and which should go. I would like to also be evil and make the right to vote for only the people active on the main boards, since it's them who will be dealing with mods most times.

Anna Stephens - doesn't stand for nonsense and BS. (One) of the smartest women I know.

Kay - Very sweet, but would stand her ground when needed. I think she would be very fair

Ok I'll answer both then.

I think the members should have a vote or at least be able to voice their thoughts/concerns for Mods of the future. The only problem would be ... would people be fair in their votes or just vote for their friends without giving others they may dislike ( for personal reasons) a second thought.
There could be a guideline perhaps ... where the voting members would chose based on many things such as fairness/ activeness/ honesty/ how well they think the person would handle situations ect ...
Not just based on ... oh that person is my friend so I chose him/her
Yap I agree the members and current mods at that time should all have a say.

And either a vote or the current mods take all the responses from the members and chose who they think would best fit the position.

That is a little harder because we all know that mods or any person who is set in place to uphold the rules/laws is automatically frowned on.
No matter who wears the mod title ... there will always be someone upset/pissed off
Perhaps even breaking rules to push buttons to make the mod look like an ass.
It has happened many times over in my years here.

So that would be a very hard vote to set in place.
But ... I do think the members should have a say, if it is a reasonable one.

But would there be reasonable ones is the question ... lol
