Report Cards for Mods!

Okay, so the whole 'elect' a mod thread made me ponder on what you all feel about the current mods. So, just as the title says, I want you all to give the current moderators a report card. Bad or good, give reasons why you chose that grade and so on.

I think this little exercise will help us become better moderators and visually see what the members think we can improve on.

Honesty is a key here and can only help us become better at what we do. So please be honest.

In case you don't know who all the current moderators are, here they are in no particular order...

Britt, Jane, Sibs, Sher, and myself.

behind the scenes : you can rate each other LOL
and this is not out of a personal experience; I will rate regarding how you guys are here, not with me.

Main board activeness:

Joe: 5/10--dull ( :P)

Reason: I only see him when a certain issue is occurring, or when there is a certain thread to share his opinion and that's not really enough. I even forget his presence as a Mod sometimes; and as a member I can't judge because I know he had some personal problems. But over all I think it would be appreciated to see him everywhere more often.

Sib:7/10 -- Fair
Reason: I actually do see her contributing in a way and another on the main-boards;but I am not sure how much changes occurred after she was hired as a Mod. well sure behind the scenes you guys can rate each other on who is active more than the other. But I think sib can do more; what way? I will mention at the end.

Sherr: 2/10--Very dull presence
Reasoning : I Rarely see her anywhere as REALLY giving some beneficial contribution; I repeat I am talking about what we see, not what you guys do from activations and accept praised comments etc..
And I seriously feel like she should interact more with the members to be a known part of this website.

Brit: 8/10--good enough

Reasoning :I think she is the most active mode between the whole team; since I see her everywhere lol; on poems by others, on the main boards as well as the chit chatting threads. Tends to be a bit closer to the members from the others.But sometimes she complains about silly stuff in my opinion.

Jane: 7/10--Fair
Reasoning: same as sib..I will copy :

Suggestions :

I think Joe needs to really be more around and make some time like we do for this website; we all have either work..or families..or unis.
I think he sib and Jane and sher and Brit should come up with new threads..maybe Weekly threads andd monthly ones which we will have to participate in.

All the mods, need to try and get to know the other members I believe because being a bit far is not helpful, although we are all busy people.

the mods; all of them never show interest in commenting poems; at least the ones that belong to the club that they belong to! Because in return it would drive the other members to read and comment.

I think there should be some more activities and challenges to be made by Mods; between clubs; not only members.

I am being honest

I'll have a go at it ... now remember I have a 10 year old so these are the report cards I see lately ... lol

Britt - A
Britt has great attendance and is always on time with posting the weekly winners, posting comments and votes.
She plays nicely on the playground(forums) %97 of the time ... lol everyone gets frustrated at times. And is prompt to answer PM's regarding site matters. (My PM's that is, I can only speak for myself)
She is very organized and appears to be very willing to help in any way. I think there is much more that she does for this site, that we don't see.
She makes you feel like a part of the site as a member and not just a number.

Jane - A-
Jane has great attitude. Her comments are well thought out and presented in a professional way. She admits when she has made a mistake and takes actions to correct them. (from what I read)
She responds to PM's fairly quickly. I saw her online one day and their was a spammer on the forums and she replied with a thank you and fixed it immediately.
Members remember the little things too :)
She also makes you feel like part of the site and not just a number also.

Sibs - B
Always polite from what I read. I see her online fairly often when I am on. Her comments on threads appear to be well thought out and polite. She is fairly quick to reply to PM's pertaining to site matters.

Being that her and Jane are still quit new it is much harder to add more.

Sherry- C
Sherry was quit quick to reply to a site concern before.
I rarely see her online often so her attendance gets a C
I usually only see her online when their is something drastic happening on P&Q
I don't know what she does behind the scenes and I did find her quick to edit others posts a few times.
So I can only comment on what I see, what I don't I can't.

Joe - D
Sorry Joe but I barely know you because I rarely see you in the forums anymore. I do recall you being on often a while back. So your attendance is a D

Perhaps giving us a list to go by with what all the mods do behind the scenes would help us better in the report cards.

I second all Lu stated, agree on both her grades and her comments.

Though many may give my report a D for diplomacy . I would give the current active mods an A for American. Some of my closest cyber friends have not been silenced. I was raised on the other side of the iron curtain so it would be hypocritical for me to criticize open democracy . America was built on the blood of its natives. Some of the great mods have been transplanted rather than weeded and if I am unwilling to put my hand to the hoe so to speak how can I critique the hoes . Poets evolve more rapidly when cultivated and in my opinion the moderators are cultivators that are cultivated.

These are some of the complaints I have issued. In the past many mods have not worked toward diplomacy nor democracy . I started a thread years ago to invite a rephrasing or mod interpretation of the existing rules and guidelines and I was mocked by the mods my thread was spammed with numbers and off topic attacks on my character and motives. From the looks of that thread many of the hecklers were weeded out or weeded themselves out

We can't deny that the most active are Americans , but words cannot express how I appreciate
the current teams willingness to be rated for their volunteered effort.

Thank you to those who have contributed so far. I look forward to seeing more responses.

Just regarding Nano's post; so I don't be taken wrong..

I did not mean MY poems, I do usually get enough feedback, I was talking in general; each in the club that they belong to.

I second Britt's question! For myself, I feel like I've commented much LESS since being a mod, though I was never very good about it.

Umm maybe i am wrong., but it's how I see it.

Mods and members are the same, but mods have more responsibilities as we all know..

And as members to keep the site active then we should ALL comment as well as we receive comments.
Is it enough to only read and not leave your impression on a certain piece? how much time would it take ?

I mean I know you are "mods" but you also are poets and in the 1st place you came here as members..who want to write and read (I believe)..

And if brit commented at least the poems written in her club, Jane the same..sib..Me. etc..few are those people who would be left without feedback, and so as a majority everyone would want to write more and comment more, since they are receiving feedback. It would make the website truly active from all aspects.

Ofcourse it won't stop at your side, andi am not saying that the activeness of p and q depends on whether you comment or not. But it would be really a very beneficial contribution and members would know you a bit more, and see you more often, if even through a comment.

NOTE: I repeat I was not talking about myself..I am not asking for comments, I am talking in general..even if each mod within th group that she/he belongs to.

Thanks so far for the comments, everyone. I am interested in the aspects I need to work on. Nana, I never considered commenting poetry important as a mod, but maybe it is. I will try to comment more often.

Mm janez you know I was talking from a point of view that doesn't have to make sense.

Was only speaking how I see things, since I considered mods..members in the 1st place.

I give you all an "A" and here is why.

Britt, you are constantly active on the boards and you are always interacting with members and always there if someone needs help. You also are doing some behind the work stuff like activating members and all that other what not that takes a while. :]

Jane, You are always looking for ways to help when you can or when you see there is something that needs to be done. you also have some freckin awesome poems that I like to read! Haha :P

Sibs, though you are new, I still think you are trying really hard to get into the mod duties and what not and you are really clam with your replies to threads that get out of hand and you conduct yourself very maturely.

Sher, I know you do a lot of the behind the work stuff and though your not on the boards too much I know you are kept busy with other task that need to be completed.

Joe, well, you are the only guy and you haven't converted to feminism yet so I am proud of that and you also do a lot of the behind curtain work and you also are very helpful to members when they need some advice or something related to that topic.

Now if anyone has anything to say about what I have to say about these moderators and they think the moderators suck then they can PM me and we will have a long fun discussion!

If I remember clearly.. I remember Alfred being angry and saying that he has mentioned how he feels exactly about what happened in the mod forum and that, after what he said, he'll probably either be removed as a mod or suspended for it. I don't recall Alfred ever saying to me or the club that he asked to be removed. I don't recall anything of that sort.
