    I'm trying to write a song... I've got the chords and everything, but I can't get the lyrics. Does anyone have any tips?

    Hmmmm....I usually just play until it inspires me to write or sing to it.

    Here is how I do it.

    I play the chords over and over and try to blank my mind. Just listen to the sounds and feel the vibration of the guitar against you chest. What you are looking to do is sort of make a blank canvass in your wonderful mind, that your subconscious, which I'll bet my bottom dollar has something for you to sing about, let your sobconscious provide the topic.

    You want to get into a state where words, or even just vocal melodies start to come up, almost out of nowhere from deep inside. It might only be a few words at first...and you can just repeat them over and over...doesn't matter what it says or for how long.

    let it find it's place in the chord progression, naturally. The last time I wrote a song like this..the line that came up was;

    "shouting things, impossible things"

    I just kept on repeating it...and it turned into a chorus, but it allowed me to write the rest of the song.

    It's important you don't stop every time you get a word to write it down...let it ride and brew in you like strong tea.

    Sounds a bit, spiritual, but it's nothing more than a musical version of automatic writing.

    Write from your heart:)
