Years latter someone wanted to fight me . When he ask me if I thought I was bad. I told him sometimes I don't do my homework. While he was laughing I walked away

^I don't think you are ridiculous for starting the thread...just the fact that there is the need for a "penalty box"to begin with...like a child being put in a corner for misbehaving...and who determines what is offensive?...and who is the guilty?

You know in N.Korea Kim Jong-il has a passion for champagne and Disney movies...while the people are forbidden to even see a movie or have the internet...fair? In the US we have the first amendment to protect our freedom of speech, and though some may take liberties testing the boundaries...the Supreme Court recently upheld that wacko Christian group's protests at our soldiers funerals...This a site that is for poetry and expression...as it takes two to argue...if someone bothers...just ignore...which is what I do daily!

So as to the penalty box...I say no...

I see where you're coming from debbylyn, and I appreciate that you are voicing your opinion. I however do not relate PnQ to the United States government and think they should be handled differently. We don't have a President. There is a site owner that doesn't come around anymore and so moderators try to keep PnQ a safe and clean place to the best of their abilities without the site owner's assistance.
Yes you can ignore things you don't like on the boards, that is one strategy... but when does ignoring become avoiding? Why would most people want to step onto the main boards when there is constant feuding? What appeal does that have to new members who are looking to be part of a -poetry- site? Discussions are awesome, but berating and disrespect aren't. Moderators are clearly here to moderate based on the title.

We can suspend members when they cause problems and won't stop when we ask them to, or we can give them a time out. In your every day lives, you're all free to do and say what you want... take advantage of your freedoms of speech as upheld by our constitution. In here (on PnQ), like in most organized social groups, you will not be tolerated if you're incessantly disrespectful.

My ex brother in law has a bumper sticker saying something to the effect that women are like telephones You push the wrong button and you get disconnected My ex wife use to call 911 when she did not like what I said to her. After talking with her the officer explained that an argument is not considered a 911 emergency until someone feels threatened. It does not seem fair that a moderator would invite a member to defend themselves and then retroactively suspend an account because they are still upset even though the member complied with the specific request to clean up the language.

Lol, this is me and how I've changed in the past four years. I no longer let anyone step all over me and if they can't handle that, than that is too bad.

This is what I teach my clients too, a big part of why they are obese is because they eat away their frustration..and their frustration comes from not standing up for whom they are and what they want.

It is not really up to you to decide whether or not a post is irrelevant or not, Hellon. You are a member and therefore have no seniority over any of us.

I concurred with Bob about the fact that it is good to speak your mind and become less timid. I added some useful information from my daily life, because I feel that I am here to share from myself and feel that is way, way more important than sticking to a rule, that was abolished a long time ago already, just like the one about bumping threads, by the way;)

I stand by my initial statement. The penalty box is all well and good, but only once it is written into the officialy rules. Til then, it's a mod project without any boundaries.

Also, it is not a change in the actual rules; it's another method for dealing with the breaking of the rules (which I believe has generally been left to the mods' discretion?). In this case, it's to be used as a less-severe alternative to permanent suspension.

Let me just say that I've never recieved any emails from any of the mods, nor was I given any indication as to why I was placed in the penalty box.

I actually don't care, this is the internet, which is supposed to facilitate freedom of speech, but right now, all I see is people treating others like children.

So I actually am against the penalty box, because not only does it insult the members who actually have the courage to actually post. But it brings into question whether to actually post in the main boards.

Shame I didnt say my opinion yet, sorry;

I am against it too, when it comes to penalizing people in for posts in the main boards,

the only cases i would be with, is if someone
swore at someone else..or humiliated someone publicly other than that, i really think penalizing people should be only for other stuff...not things related to posts, because it will scare people from being honest enough.

i may be wrong, but it's my opinion.
