while others may be saying "not again" i will happily get involved in this discussion since i am just now delving into the discussion section of p&q after a year of posting. i believe, wholeheartedly, in God. He is real, He created everything, and He is our Lord and Father. just by looking around you and seeing nature, you see proff that God is real.

I am having a hard time controlling my urge to start regurgitating everything I have already said, so I humbly ask anyone who wants some good reasoning about the whole "God" question to refer to the "Define God" post in the "Other" section, and there is another good post on the topic there too.

You think the "big bang" is more likely than God? Yea, BANG it's all here is a lot more likely than Let There Be Light, give me a break.

  • lisa marie

there is already a discussion about this topic. actually a few.

  • Bret Higgins

Umm when you get a big bang there is usually a lot of light. SO I would imagine that with THE big bang there would indeed be light.

    Metaphors people, metaphors.

  • Dani Ward

i believe in the Big Bang Fact. God spoke, and BANG it happened. God created the entire universe, with one word. how do ya think the universe came to be. one minute there was nothing at all, no existence of anything, and then all of a sudden an explosion happened to create the universe. what caused the explosion? the universe was created by God, and that's that.

I agree with lyn_renae! Besides retards can't write such good poetry. Why do people use that word so loosely! For those of us that don't know, a retard is someone who is mentaly challanged. And NO I am not retarted either other wise I would not even know this.

  • Dani Ward

if you don't want to hear people "preaching" then don't become part of the topic. if you think about it, God is a lot more likely, since he's real, than evolution. evolution takes to much random chance.

ok lets say that there is a God. How did he come to be? i mean something or some one HAD to creat him, but then who created that, and ect.

no lets say there ISN'T a God.
The big Bang theroy. well there could have been a big bang, but who/what created the thigns that made the big bang? and who/what created thoes things?

answere ne one? just want your alls opinions.

  • Anne Conner

No one had to create God. He would not be God if something had created Him. The Bible talks about this in Genisis chapter 1. Most people do not believe this because God has not opened thier eyes to see the truth. I will gladly give more Bible references if anyone wants them.

lil angel, ur having a problem with the concept known as "infinity." No matter what you do, you have to recognize that for there to be a universe, there has to be an alpha, a starting point. To attempt to create a logical regression further and further back in time won't accomplish anything. If God exists, then he has been in existence forever, and had no beginning.

As far as the Big Bang goes, a current popular model is that the Big Bang originated from the collapse of a multi-dimentional universe of at least 10 dimentions, which is to say that the energy within the universe (assumed to be constant when factoring the amount of matter --conservation of energy) was at an equilibrium. The disturbance of this equilibrium supposedly began a rapid creation of matter

  • Dani Ward

interesting sean, i hadn't heard of that multi-dimension theory. and you said exactly what i wanted to say, there had to be a starting point. something had to have always existed, because nothing else could have been created if there was no such thing as existance in the first place. that's why God has always existed, and He created the universe.

all i got to say is i belive in God strongly because my mom got in a pretty bad acecedent and shes is alive and i was suppose to be in the car but i geusse i was just lucy to thoes who dont belive in God and i belive it was him God and that thanks to him me and my mom are alive ...and my mom got in the car accident because o drinking and driving so she wasn't inacent

  • brittni

    hey bianca

i was just reading the god comments and yours caught my eye.

there is a god, nobody knows how god came to to be... no one knows how he got here or even how he was created, but that is where ''faith'' comes into place, people run to god for security..do you? i mean i dont know what point you are trying to get across with the ''big bang'' but all i can say is that

''the only time you can believe in some thing is only if you have faith in it'' and when you believe in god... thats all you need is faith.

I'm sorry, but there is no such thing as a higher being, "God"

This is not meant to bash anyone or offend any believers.

It's perfectly fine if you believe in God, in fact it's great if the concept gives you motivation to be a good person, but these are my reasons why I do not believe in him.

all religions were brought into existance to explain nature and other things that human beings couldn't contemplate at the time. The Greek gods (and Romans) notice all had an assigned job- thunder, sea, love, death, beauty, war etc; and whenever something happened that the people could not come up with an explanation for they would direct it to one of them,
    "it's raining"
    "o no Zeus is pissed!"

The same concept prospered for the concept of God.
People could not explain how human beings had been brought into existance, so made up a story about God putting one of his ribs into clay then breathing in it.
See though, God was a different religion that has lasted because for once this religion preached peace and goodwill with the hope of an after life
(side note: another reason why God was created was to prevent fear of death)
Which gave people hope and reason to live peacefully, unlike earlier religions who taught sacrifice and hell after death no matter what morals.

God was proved to have been non-existant when evolution was brought into theory, and PROVED

(it may sound silly, but I agree with the person about the alien race. I know it sounds like a sci-fi story, but if you really think and discuss it, it makes more sense)

So, no offense to believers, if you have a religion, good for you. I'm not trying to convince you God isn't real, but these are my reasons for not being religous. "God is love" just isn't enough proof that he exists.

"I'm sorry, but there is no such thing as a higher being, 'God'"

    Goody, here we go.

"God was proved to have been non-existant when evolution was brought into theory, and PROVED"

This is rich. Tell me, what evidence PROVES evolution? Is it still, yet a theory? Tell me... how is it that we know of evolution? Man told us. Man is not perfect, and makes assumptions.

Who told us that God existed? God. God is perfect, and knows everything.

"'God is love' just isn't enough proof that he exists.

Are you looking for a black-and-white answer on the existence of God? There is no such thing. In order to understand God, you must be able to grasp that He cannot be understood. It makes sense, if you think about it.

Also, I am not aware of anyone trying to use, "God is love" as proof of His existence.

Lipton...... I said "God is love" is not a good enough answer for me because a girl posted that earlier.
    genious.

Second.....I don't know where the hell you've been. Look up evolution, I don't think your intelligent enough for me to get involved with you anymore, so I'm not even going to try

Evolution and religion can work hand in hand... you just have to be savvy enough to make the right connections.
