I work in a daycare in a classroom of children 1-2 yrs old. I was wondering if anyone had any cooking project suggestions we could do. The only thing is we only have a fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster oven to work with. I've already tried fruit salad, pb&j, jell-o, and alphabet fries.

Hi DeathsRose. What about Graham Cake? Its so easy to do. Its a no bake, no-hassle cake. All you need is basically Graham crackers, cream, condensed milk, mangoes and a freezer which you mentioned you got there. Ok, first make a layer of the crackers in a preferably square or rectangular container. Mix the cream and condensed milk in a bowl, pour some to the crackers and then the mangoes, sliced and without the skins and seeds of course, but, you already know that, lol, anyways, repeat all the things Ive said until the container is almost full. Oooops! I forgot to mention crush 3 or more crackers cause itll serve as the topping, sorry. Anyhow, after that, you just put it in the freezer and in a couple of hours you got yourselves a delicious Mango Graham cake, the kiddies will love it, well, I love it, but Im not a kiddie anymore, nevermind, lol. One more thing, it doesnt end with the mangoes yknow, the possibilities are endless, you can use chocolates, bananas, pineapples etc. so on and so forth, or you can use whatever the kids love. I hope this helps. Maybe Ill make one now.
Rock n roll and blessed be! :)

We are having them help us make the food, so it has to be pretty easy, but we also do a lot of it that they can't do but we try to have them help us.

You have a microwave? 3 minute chocolate cake!

I work in a science museum, and we are currently doing a show for kids where we highlight the science behind baking. Very popular. Kids love measuring and pouring and mixing, and taking turns with the ingredients. We make the cake in a big mug that serves enough for 3 adults. It comes out like an oozing, dripping chocolate volcano. You can also make it in a bowl with more quantities and microwave time. I was skeptical about the taste but it is absolutely delicious beyond expectation!

    In a mug, add:

    4 tbs self-raising flour
    4 tbs sugar
    2 tbs cocoa
    1 egg
    3 tbs milk
    3 tbs oil
    splash vanilla essence

Mix really well and pop in microwave on high for 3 minutes.

Dust with icing sugar, serve with cream if desired. Speedy gooooodness.

My friends and I have made these often. They're right out of a kid's cookbook!

You take those doughy canned crescent rolls, and lay them out in triangles. Put pizza sauce, pepperoni, and shredded mozzarella on them. Roll them up, bake until golden brown. Voila!

    (Microwave would probably work....?)
