Break the stereo...type

    Lol breaking stereotypes.

well i break the stereo for being a typical teenager, girls especially.

    1. i don't disrespect my parents, ever
    2. i can't really stand the mall or gossiping
    3. i would rather wrestle with my brothers, cousins, and friend than to go shopping
    4. i hate doing my nails or getting them done
    5. i'm not guy obsessed. they generally annoy the hell out of me so i have a select few guy friends

how about you? break any stereos?

    1) I hang out with a lot of guys (this is a little weird to people, but normal to me since I grew up with brothers)

    2) I HATE trying on clothes. And shopping. Well, I like getting the clothes, I just don't like having to get them, lol.

    3) I love to run and sweat. Lol. Other girls think this is strange.

    4) I also HATE cheerleading. Wayyy too girly for me. I like running around and playing basketball with my cousins -- or getting down and dirty, lol.

Most of the stereotypes I've listed are from when I was a little kid or teenager:

    - Most of my friends growing up were guys. While the girls liked to pretend to be cheerleaders we liked to have snowball fights, rock fights, wrestle, pretend we were monster and all the other kind of games boys liked to do involving getting dirty.

    - As a little girl, there were two things I hated: Dresses and dolls. I much rather preferred toys like cars, animals or dinosaurs, drawing, writing, some kind of sport activity and in general being outside. Also, while all the other girls played house and pretended to me moms, dads or babies, I liked to pretend I was an animal; a wolf, tiger or other some other kind of exotic creature.

    - In high school, most of the other girls and guys in my class and other grades liked to go out every weekend to a party, get wasted, get into a fight and hook up. I much rather preferred to spend time with my family or my friends. My friends and I had amazing times together, no alcohol was needed. If my friend and I decide to have drinks, if I was drinking with family or in general, it was for a special occasion and only casual.

    - I got into trouble like any kid/teenager, but I was always honest with my parents, respected them and understood when they, for example, told me to be home by ten or grounded me for not coming home at the time they asked me to. That said, my parents were quite laid back with me. Other than maybe a curfew or some other typical rule we grow up with as kids, I didn't have much limitations. They trusted me (my word, my decisions, etc. and to respect their rules, decisions and wishes) and I didn't do anything that would cause them to not trust me in any way, nor did I want to lose their trust.

    - I wasn't much interested in boys or dating like my friends or other girls in my class when most teenagers get to that age. Sure, I wouldn't have minded if I had a boyfriend but I wasn't going to just settle with just anyone, nor someone I wasn't interested in or just because everyone else was. I consider my first boyfriend and my first relationship to be when I was at sixteen. I am still currently with that person, he is now my fiance.

    Currently:

    - Despite my reputation as a tomboy of sorts, I do like wearing dresses, painting my nails, doing my hair, make-up and other girlie things.

    - I love working out, running or doing some other kind of physical activity and I love to sweat!

    - As my fiance says, I'm the only girl he knows who can go into the mall (even the bigger ones) and come out empty handed, haha. Or that I can go into a store, look around the whole store and be out again in less than 60sec, depending on the store that is.

I have to be in a certain mood to shop- I do not like shopping for clothes or shoes usually!

I would rather be taken out to a fast-food place for breakfast than somewhere fancy, I like the simple things!

^ haha you like to work and get sweaty, good point there you have made :)

And I get excited to go to mass at Church!

I also HATE wearing skirts and dresses -- most of the time.
I will wear that stuff to church, but...I don't really like it, lol.

Agree with the skirts and simple things. i get upset with people if they get me anything expensive. for example, women usually want a diamond ring right? i'd rather have a pretty 50 cents one lol thins like that

I respect my parents, but I don't think it's breaking stereotypes at this point.
I'm sort of androgenous in my looks and mannerisms.
I don't like hard alcohol, I like beer. Good beer.
    I've done construction work.
I grew up in a white collar town but I have blue color attitudes and nontraditional goals. I worked after high school and supported myself then went backbacking for 6 months and now at 22, I'm in my 2nd year of uni.

Abby, I know lots of Indian females 6ft tall, psh! Are you really 6ft?..eeee by gum, the ideal height for some serious......

I'm Scottish, but don't like football (i prefer ping pong and womens tennis)
    I almost never drink
I don't have sex without love, ever...never have, never will.

Ooh good ones. 6ft, Abby? Maybe I knew that.

I'm American but I don't like American football. Give me tennis or soccer (the real football!).

I relate more to male-perspective songs.

Regardless of my tomboy qualities, I like painting my nails, painting my face, and other typically girly things...

I open the door for boys.

''I open the door for boys.''

    Jane, that's cute.

    ---

I can break the stereotype in this thread?

    - I don't, almost never, wear trousers/jeans or anything of the like. Actually, the closest I come to them things with two legs is leggings (which I really think should be extinct). I'm a skirt/dress person.

    - I feel comfortable around girls much more than guys. Which makes sense considering the fact that I've been in a private girls-only school.

    - I don't go to the gym. I dance instead (bellydance that is) which doesn't really make you ''sweat'' but it tones your body perfectly.

    - I love books, food, shopping, politics and history.

    - Make up in general disgusts me, unless it's kohl (eye liner) or some sort of a natural lipstick.

    - I find contact lenses gross.

    - TV or movies in general drive me crazy with boredom. I'd rather read a book instead.

    - I'd rather approach guys not the other way round.

    - I don't like being pampered or sweet talked.

    - I prefer sarcasm in a person more than humor.

I will hold the door open for pretty much anyone.

I want to dedicate my future life and career to helping others - especially kids affected by divorce.

I am paying for college, car insurance, gasoline for my car, and pretty much everything else I have by myself, with rare help from my parents.

I work two jobs, and I still have school four days a week, and I'm involved in several school organizations.
