Why is it poor me that always loses posts every time a thread gets locked?

    so here I go again:

''It was sent via a yahoo account, buy it was a shotty email address so it went into my spam folder which deletes every 24 hours.. so I don't have the email anymore.''

you didn't think to save it at least? so now the email is as good as gone? wonderful. just wonderful.

and is that all you wanted to share, Alan? there is nothing else? (just making sure).

@ the mods: Will Joe be treated like any other member had they done the same or will you guys just let it go?

  • Sherry Lynn

Yes I told him. to me there is nothing wrong with telling somebody privately that they were caught doing something wrong and not to do it again.

okay I am on my cellphone I'm not going to get a post on everything sorry guys will keep up when I can.

    play nice everyone.

  • silvershoes

Sorry about that, Nor. In the future when a thread is above 90 posts and you're typing up a response, try to copy your post before posting it just in case the thread has been filled and locked. That's what I do :)

Thanks, Jane, I'll make sure I do just that in the future. so about Joe?

Robert.. sitting in a can? what?

  • silvershoes

About Joe. I'll get back to you on that.

The can = slang for jail.

  • The Princess

Oh thank you. will be waiting. and about the can too. never knew that. cans to me are connected with food xD

Robert, that's funny. you have no idea how many times my political science professor told me the same. every time I opened my mouth actually. he'd be like, you'll send us all to jail. but then of course I would've been the first one in and that's not what you meant.

easy on the English and on me, please. my brain is half dead. been studying all day long and now I'm seeing stars. literally.

I should have moved it to my inbox, which is dumb on my part..

I think we have gotten to a point where everything is out there, and that makes me happier.. I don't like pm hacking and I don't like drama.. my information has now been addressed, time to figure out what's next..

''I should have moved it to my inbox, which is dumb on my part..''

yes, it is. but such things happen.

    Thanks, Alan!

  • Sherry Lynn

Any more reference to bob posing to be d what constitute as drama and therefore will result in penalties being handed out immediately.

the issue about dee has been put to rest.

  • The Princess

    *claps*

the first time I see a''drama'' I like xD

  • silvershoes

Anyone who brings up a member's past errors that have been dealt with by the mods or anyone who brings up allegations that have been dealt with by the mods for the purpose of harassment or stirring up site drama will be penalized henceforth.

As per Sher. She can't post it from the mod forums because she's on her cell phone.

  • The Princess

Oh there you go too, Jane! I think perhaps it should be posted in a new thread as a new rule? so that everyone sees it and all.

  • silvershoes

Good idea. However as you can see the rules have vanished with Britt's account since she posted them for us. Hopefully we can have a new set of rules up for everyone very soon and this new rule will be added to the list.

Meanwhile, don't think that just because the rules aren't posted we aren't enforcing them ;)

  • The Princess

Oh, I never noticed they were gone. and it seems no one missed them too anyway xD

Sher re the slander thing. So it's ok for Bob to slander me or Jane whenever she posts about her mod ability and her past indiscretion?
Yet he goes running off squealing when he gets a bit of his own medicine...
    That's funny...

    But whatever...

  • Sherry Lynn

No, Nicko it is not okay and if you see Jane's post you will find that.

I was on my cell phone and unable to post everything.

  • Nicko

Well ok... We will see how that goes..looks like he may well live his life in the penalty box lol

  • Sherry Lynn

Nicko.... chill out please! No need to add gasoline to the fire!

  • Sherry Lynn

    Let's make a deal...

Nicko you do not talk to nor reference to Bob and Bob does not talk to nor reference to you....

Agree to not like each other and walk away never mentioning the other again.

  • Nicko

It's ok Sher I am chilled out, just my attempt at humor

This hacking thing is all very insidious and no doubt disconcerting for you as you don't know how long it's been going on.. And as I said earlier a lesson to us all. It's not something we can stop, it will always happen, maybe all members should be made aware of the posibility somehow with a sticky or in the rules or something ie private information maybe accessible to hackers or something..
Anyway I'm sure you guys will sort it

NO MORE TALKING ABOUT OR TO EACH OTHER! NOT EVEN HAVE A NICE DAY! NEXT TIME IT IS THE PENALTY BOX.... EVEN IF YOU JUST SAY HI

  • Sherry Lynn

What really torked me is the fact that they could use my account to cause harm to others if they wanted.

I do not care about my PM's... I have nothing to hide, but I do care about the privacy and safety of everyone, including myself.

All I have to say is that if the hacker was able to trace my IP address to where I live and wants to show up... they better be ready to meet my 45 cause I will use it!

  • The Princess

They should take an oath, Sherry! xD Have to say I like both guys and wouldn't like to see one of them penalized. so I think it's for the best.

I was wondering btw, if the hacker hacked into/accessed your account how come you can't check his IP like Joe's?

  • Sherry Lynn

I don't know all that stuff to be honest with you, and besides that will not give me their account information... only where they are located

  • The Princess

''and besides that will not give me their account information... only where they are located''

couldn't you then try to match their location with some of the members accounts? my bet would be they'd have to be an active member. you could try it on the online members every time and narrow your search or so?

    Just my two cents.

  • Sherry Lynn

How many members do you think we have?

And what if they are not a member?

How long do you think it would take to go through all the IP addresses? Just wondering....

  • The Princess

No idea. it was just a suggestion. perhaps you have an easier way? question is, was there a different IP found other than yours and Joe's accessing your account? or is it just an assumption?

I don't think it's someone off the website, what would they gain? and why would they contact Aj? I think it's someone from the website and someone who's concerned perhaps about what they found. if it's someone from outside and not active just wanting to use the info and what not they wouldn't really have gone through all the trouble of contacting Alan privately and such.

  • Sherry Lynn

I know... I have not even looked at my IP addresses to be honest. But that is something that we should look in to.

  • Larry Chamberlin

Did the hacker have access to members' passwords? Do mods have that access?

  • The Princess

Okay! lets hope, Sher, that your account wasn't and isn't being hacked to and it's just that pms are not that private. it's the lesser of two evils.

  • Sherry Lynn

We do not have access to members passwords.

I say that my account was hacked because they decided to spread a screen shot of my PM's with two different members.

Now, numerically, the chances of them stumbling upon two different conversations with two different people is astronomical.

To achieve this goal... in my mind and realistically... they had to hack into my account.

  • The Princess

But I thought the idea is them being able to access pms? like access all your pms or all my pms, isn't it so?

    ---

    Edit:

''We do not have access to members passwords.''

I guess ''yet'' should be added to this. and perhaps ''may god protect them and keep things that way'' xD just to be on the safe side. you never know.

  • Sherry Lynn

I do not know exactly how it works.... my understanding is that hacking a pm then you could only see that conversation between those two people...

This is where a computer or coding person could fill in the blanks.

Amanda, you know, on occasion, I like riding in wagons. I know the road is bumpy. In fact, it is clear that everybody is well aware the road is obviously bumpy and care needs to be taken. But that's why I choose wagons that have springs- so that I don't get viciously and uselessly jolted by every single stone, bumping my head again and again for no reason. This allows me to pay attention to the journey in a more pleasant way, regardless of how morbid the destination may be.

    Your wagon needs springs.

    End.

  • silvershoes

No, Britt found out a way to skim through all PM's sent on PnQ forward and back by order in which they were sent. It is to my understanding that you can see the title of the PM and the content of the PM but you cannot view the sender or the recipient. That being the case, if you leave out names in your PM's, you will be slightly more "safe," or something of that nature.

    Just be careful everyone.

  • Sherry Lynn

I never used a name on my PM's or signed my name.....

  • silvershoes

    Sher -

Then it would be conjecture by the hacker probably because of the content in the PM. To make that kind of conjecture, this hacker would have be very aware of site happenings. Emphasis on very.

If the hacker actually accessed your account then no conjecture need be made because yeah, they just opened up your PM's and voila. However, how anyone would be able to hack into a member or moderator's account is waaaaay beyond my knowledge of how this crap works.
    ... hopefully not for long!

    Be warned, hacker.

If your bumpy, uncomfortable wagon is going to do anything to help resolve the current issues, I'll hop onto it. In the meantime, I'll keep my eyes and ears tuned for any updates from the people that may have any info, and enjoy my deluxe wagon. You're welcome any time. Weeeee.

The ability to be serious, the ability to laugh goodnaturedly at a non life threatening situation, and the ability to laugh at oneself are all nice traits I think good people will admire. On a scale of 1-10 with 0 being the most serious and 10 being the least serious, I would say Amanda you are a 4 and Abby you are a 6. It's a small difference and you're both good people. Just drop this tiff, ladies.
