Ahhhh Memories, I grew up in the 70's so I was Star Wars kid/nut. I still have some of the toys (sadly they are opened and not worth as much) but nonetheless a piece of my childhood. I wished I was Princess Leia and would wind my pigtails up in buns and pretend. I hung around all boys growing up so they didn't mind that I was the only girl. Someone had to play princess leia and no other girls to argue the part with either. It was also my first movie I went to the theatre to see aside from the movies of tagging along with my parents to the drive in theatre and the movies I remember nothing of.
In a galaxy far far away, I was able to play the roles of my childhood heroes. Ahhhh, those were the days.

    Lol Britt. you serious?

If you like Sci-Fi movies then you would love it. Though if you don't then there is not much to appreciate about it. With that being said I used to watch Star Trek but was never as big of a fan of it.

Not just for Sci-Fi lovers, if you are into videography and how things are videographed, then you'll enjoy the movies. They were huge in terms of visual effects when they were made. Many things from the original movies altered the way other movies were created by using those technologies.

Joe you are right. Growing up in that time era it was some of the greatest visual effects as compared to anything for quite some time to come.

Britt!! Aw, haha. The older three are great adventure movies, but the newer ones aren't really worth it unless you're either a die hard fan, or fascinated by costuming/makeup design.
I suppose if you are one of the (very, very) few Hayden Christensen fans, you might also find it appealing. But be prepared for awful acting!

Though 'Star Wars` are universal, some us see the series as American as apple pie

Haha! Yes, Joe I'm totally serious! People never believe me but I really have never seen them. I don't even know what they're about..:/ When people make Star wars references I'm like that weird, awkward kid who doesn't understand cool kid slang!

Narph (everytime I type this on my phone Narph becomes Baron...weird) I'm definitely not a fan of his, so I don't feel I'm missing much.

I just tried watching Lord of the Rings for the first time a couple weeks ago. I did not like it! I was bored and confused and ultimately fell asleep :)

:) Oh cmon Britt, its almost a crime not to see ep. iv, v, vi, but its perfectly understandable, we all got our thing, me, i havent seen Titanic, lol... Brother Jordan dude "nerdy"? you probably mean geeky, one here, lol. anyways, MAN! i love Star Wars, been a fanboy since, idk, 3, 4 i think, i even tried to name my band Figrin D an and the Modal Nodes, very unsuccessful tho, lol. even my ringtone now is the Imperial March. once i also got the Obi Wan Kenobi Jedi braid thingy, until the school ppl made me cut my hair, i also collect whatever Star Wars stuff i can sink my hands into, and... Ooookay, by now im assuming ive succeeded in proving my geekiness. bottomline, i love Star Wars!... May the force be with you, always. :D

The Star Wars movies are also great if you have interest in mythology. Lucas was heavily influenced by Joseph Campbell and his description of the Heroic Cycle. Orphan boy grows up... is introduced to a mentor/threshhold guardian, starts on his adventure, fights small battles, loses the guardian, faces the darkness of himself/the world, yadda yadda yadda.

Plus, young Harrison Ford is a steaming, rogueish sex god.

  • Britt

See I'm more into Titanic. Lol. I'm not much for mythology unless you count the Neverending Story. I haven't seen that in ages, I wonder if it's terrible now? I used to love it.

  • Hallucinostic

:) Yah, youre probably right, forget the thing i said bout not seeing Star Wars is a crime, cause if not watching famous films is a crime, im probably be in death penalty for not seeing Titanic plus Twilight, lol... And yes, it probably is a bit terrible now, we rented the Robocop movie when i was lil and man, how i loved it, then i saw it couple days ago, ehhh, still love it, but lets just say im not that happy that i imitated his moves and sayin, IM ROBO FREEZE! when i was lil anymore, lol. :D

  • Britt

Mel I was hoping you wouldn't read that!! Lol

Hallustinistic, I've seen all the twilight movies and you're okay by not watching them. The movies, in my opinion, were terrible (but I'll still go see the last movies in theater lol). Books were much better, and very chickish so I can see why you'd not jump to watch!

  • Hallucinostic

"Hallustinistic"? lmfao! im assuming you got an itsy bitsy problem with my name here or maybe youre in a hurry when you typed it, oookay, call me Dib, i think thatll be a lot easier. lol! :D

Britt, forget apologizing, nobody's business but yours.

Now, get out to any DVD store you want & buy/rent Star Wars, Episode iv, A New Hope (oka Star Wars). I give you the precise title because it is important for you not to have any obstacles.

Take it home & watch it tonite.

  • Jordan

Larry: The Schwartz! Thanks! Hahahaha. Pizza the Hut would be proud. :)

I'm glad this has spawned a bit of chatter. It's been a while since I've seen Star Wars, but I'll never doubt the original trilogy's greatness. It's just a shame that George Lucas's direction didn't evolve past the seventies. Otherwise the prequel trilogy would've been much MUCH better.

  • Hallucinostic

To Britt, no tv now? Oh man, and i was about to suggest you see episode v: The Empire Strikes Back. kinda cool to see the bad guys win every once in a while. lol. :D... To brothers Larry and Jordan dudes, Schwartz? Pizza the Hut? lol, who trained you guys, Master Yoghurt? lol, Jk dudes. :D

  • sibyllene

I think the new Star Wars movies are funny, because you normally worry about upstarts coming in and stealing ideas from the idea's original creator, and thereby ruining things you love. You don't expect the original creator being the one doing the ruining. Nobody ever sees that one coming!

Lucas's schwartz was as big as mine... but unfortunately, he couldn't handle it.

Yup, sir Larry dude, for some strange sci-fictional reasons, Star Wars fanboys and Trekkies dont mix well. lol. :D

  • Larry Chamberlin

    Yeah you right.

I like both, but my sci-fi all timer is Dune.
OK with the Dino De Laurentis version, other than the huge mistakes.

Much prefer the sci-fi channel movie series. I'd love to see them continued.

"Yup, sir Larry dude, for some strange sci-fictional reasons, Star Wars fanboys and Trekkies dont mix well. lol. :D"

There was a little movie I saw called "Fan Boys," about a group of intense Star Wars fans who had an elaborate plan to break into George Lucas's mansion and take a peek at the as-yet-unreleased plans for Star Wars Episode I. They had some nice rumbles with Trekkies. William Shatner made an appearance. It was good.

Tsk Britt, I'm going to have to start giving you personal mythology lessons, You will LEARN to love it. :P

Hey guys, I saw that FANBOYS movie too, kinda funny, and theres this part where one of the fanboys there met his online gf for the first time, and she turned out to be a 10, 11yr old or something and they got their butts kicked by her bro, uncle, whatever, i forgot, lol! :D

Never seen the Star Wars movies. Seen a lot of parodies, so whenever people are making references from the movies I get the gist of it, haha. I had always been more of a Star Trek fan as a kid. Presently, I more so like The Lord of the Rings movies.
