This is for the lovely Narphangu! :)

    Myriad:
    - noun
    - adj.

    Pronunciation:
    [MIR-ee-uhd]

    Definition:
    - noun
    1. a very great or indefinitely great number of persons or things.
    2. ten thousand.

    - adjective
    3. of an indefinitely great number; innumerable: the myriad stars of a summer night.
    4. having innumerable phases, aspects, variations, etc.: the myriad mind of Shakespeare.
    5. ten thousand.

    Etymology:
1550s, from M.Fr. myriade, from L.L. myrias (gen. myriadis) "ten thousand," from Gk. myrias (gen. myriados) "ten thousand," from myrios "innumerable, countless," of unknown origin. Specific use is usually in translations from Greek or Latin.

    Quote with the word:
    "And before, with banner red,
    Through the blizzard snow unseen,
All unharmed by hail of lead,
With a step like snow so light,
Showered in myriad pearls of snow.
Crowned in wreath of roses white,
Christ leads onward as they go."
    - Aleksandr Blok (Russian Poet)

I always been hesitant about using it in a sentence. I sort of use it in the same sense as "plethora".

"There are a myriad of opportunities" sounds right, but then I get corrected to "there are myriad opportunities".

Seeing now it's both a noun and and adjective makes me think of a myriad of opportunities to correct my correctors. Ten thousand, in fact.

Although, I do like how it sounds as an adjective better. Like in the poem. Lovely cadence.
