Oh how I miss my dear childhood
The dawn of my life
that time which will never come back
What love, what dreams, what flowers,
those beautiful afternoons
in the shade of banana trees
Under the orange groves.
How beautiful are the days
From the dawn of existence
the soul breaths innocence
like fragrance to flower
The sea is calm lake,
The sky a blue mantle,
The world is a golden dream,
The life a hymn of love!
what dawns, what sun, what life
what melodious nights
in that sweet joy
in that naive play
The sky embroidery of stars
A land full of flavors,
The waves kissing the sand
And the moon kissing the sea!
Oh my childhood days,
Oh my spring sky!
How sweet life was not
On that cheerful morning
Instead of hurts now,
I had such delights
My mother’s caresses
And my sisters kisses
Free child of the mountains,
I was well satisfied,
Bare feet, bare arms,
Running through meadows
near the waterfalls,
Behind the wings
Of Blue butterflies!
In those blissful times
i used to reap cherries
I climbed up to get the sleeves
Played by the sea!
I thought the sky was always beautiful
I fell asleep smiling
And awoke to sing!
Oh how i miss my dear childhood
The dawn of my life
that time which will never come back
What love, what dreams, what flowers,
those beautiful afternoons
in the shade of banana trees
Under the orange groves.
