    ~~~~~~~~CLOSED~~~~~~~~
    Hey guys,
    I've been away from the site for awhile and I'm thinking the best way to get back to it is by doing a contest!
    Anyways, I'm very inspired by pictures. Some of my poems were only written because of the emotions that I felt after seeing a certain picture and I want to read your poems that were inspired by visual art.
    So here's how it's gonna work. I'm gonna post 5 links to different inspirational pix I've found and two poets can reserve a spot for each pic.
    RULES:
    1. One poem per poet
    2. Doesn't have to be a new poem but if you've written it before this contest make sure it fits the picture you've reserved.
    3. MUST reserve!
    4. Poems must be longer than 2 verses no longer than 15 (four lines to a verse)
    5. BE ORIGINAL AND HAVE FUN!
    CONTEST ENDS JULY 6TH!
    PRIZES:
    1st place: 15 r/r/c
    2nd place: 10 r/r/c
    3rd place: 5 r/r/c
    Applying for: MASK category
    -------------------------------------
    MASQUERADE
    Go ahead. Relax. Let your mask fall.
    There's no one here to see you at all.
    Outside - the right place to put it on.
    Here, the eyes you're afraid of are gone.
    Liar. Your time came to retire.
    It's a job - truth you can't attire.
    Unreality , just falsity -
    extraterritoriality?
    I'm afraid no. Outside, I can flee.
    Here, you're a total stranger with me.
    "You're the world to me, my son", you say
    only in front of them; that's the way!
    Inside, you're the devil in disguise.
    The real you unties: lies. No surprise!
    *Phony you*'s underplayed, I'm afraid,
    Drop it. It's over - your masquerade.
    I choose Mourning, however, my poem is not about mourning.
    -----------------------------------------------------
    Three Hidden Faces
    They were just three
    Each one masking,
    A different feeling
    A different story-
    The first one hid
    Something wet
    Barely unshed,
    Tears
    God
    Only knows
    The pain and regret
    On her face wishing to be seen.
    The second one concealed
    A chilling little smirk
    What about?
    Pleasure,
    Desire,
    To murder.
    What!? How could she?
    Your fear is why she's masked
    The third one obscured
    Hundreds of scars
    Recent and-
    Old
    Eyes
    Colored blue
    Are the only ones
    That know the beatings she suffered.
    All three bow their heads
    Because if the world knew
    The faces behind the veils
    All hope would be lost.
    Uncover the Exposition
    There's beauty
    Then there's treachery,
    A snare taunted with lies.
    I hide my emotions
    By camouflaging
    Any truth in my eyes.
    You've tumbled
    On the cloak of my heart,
    Won't you unstitch it?
    Scatter the glimmer
    And kill the lights,
    For they only reflect
    The blackness I shine.
    Break
    This
    Flawless
    Defense.
    Do you always
    See me as a rusted
    Masterpiece?
    I grasp your shoulders
    In the candlelight,
    You respond with
    Chains,
    No escape for me.
    Wordlessly I fall.
    My own lips have thorns
    The size of your wrists,
    Welts upon welts
    Yet you let me live on.
    Fight the sleep tonight.
    Wrestle these pins that
    Pierce
    My mind.
    Find me here.
    Help me defy.
    Get me to die.
    The Awakening
    Burning embers of desire
    She swore would remain dead
    Reborn in those supple lips
    Seared inside her head
    She hid her face, a mask of shame
    For all she thought she was
    Could it be that life can change
    When she feels it never does?
    Is this feeling deep inside
    The beating of a heart?
    Temptation waking all she thought
    Sweet love had torn apart
    She couldn't bear the world to see
    Her naked, fearful soul
    Though heaven was before her now
    She must fain some control
    "Luna"
    Luna--
    daughter to the moon
    shivering away her sadness
    with rain dropped clouds
    cloaking her weary hands,
    from the many scars
    brought on by lightening.
    [Fire] a scarlet escape from
    the water surrounding her
    thoughts. Breathing from
    time to time to blend in
    with the rest of humanity.
    They wonder, oh how they
    wonder, why she never sleeps...
    She wears a dream-catcher
    on her thigh so she'll never
    miss out on the dawning
    of an evening sky. She wears
    a crescent on her heart so
    she'll never forget where she
    came from.
    Luna--
    fallen from the heavens with her
    halo in her pocket waiting for the
    day she's called back home.
    There is a Lebanese 26 episodes series called "Luna" about a beautiful girl that was sold by her evil-poor parents to a wealthy Spanish family. When they die, she decides to come back to the village with all the money she has seeking revenge!
    You reminded me of it.. GREAT one! :D
    Mankind
    Standing together trapped in their memorial.
    Dressed in flowers with longing looks to the floor.
    Here heavy cloaks meet cemented emotions.
    Pierced with grief and stripped from movement.
    Where things are better left unsaid, unnoticed, ignored, pushed aside, pushed down, and drowned. A place where pain comes in multiples of three.
    Where no tears are to be seen. Sitting still in silent sorrow.
    Frozen in time, forever motionless and cursed in a moment of sadness to outlive us all.
    When all is gone the world will continue mourn as they mourn. The sun and the moon will take turns to look down as they look down.
    In the end all complications are simplified and what you see are the reflections of flesh presenting bowed heads for mankind.
