    Supper

    Steepies for the barnie
    Sae moolie in the mou':
    Parritch for a strappan lad
    To mak his beard grow.

    Stovies for a muckle-man
To keep him stout and hale:
A noggin for the auld carl
    To gar him sleep weel.

Bless the meat, and bless the drink,
And the had that steers the pat:
    And be guid to beggar-bodies
Whan they come to your yett.

You just made Kevin wet his pants with glee.

Are they calling it "glee" these days?

I was running dry. I don't know that many poets off the top of my head!

I have a Scottish friend, even dedicated a whole blog to him. Somehow that language is friendly and when spoken out loud it seems as if you are listening to someone who is calling to you from the ancient past..a very melodious language:)

Thanks for sharing, made me feel very melancholic!

Totally agree with you, Ingrid! I tried to read the poem out loud. Definitely cracked myself up tripping over every other word :)

    Good one, Sib.

I had to try to read it out loud to understand it at all! That seemed to help.
