A few kind words

    Hello all :]

I think of a lot of people on this site as one of two things. Family and mentors. I learn a lot from the older people on this site (Karla and Cindy) as well as some of the younger people (Austin and Nano). I think a lot of us spend too much time on the negative things and in the end we end up losing a lot of talented people. I don't know the exact reasons why Rob, Rabea and Nano left the site, I just know they took a lot of talent and friendship with them.

I joined this site to share my poetry with other poets. Not to fight or to bash others writing. Not to pick fights or upset the Mods. Not to win or lose contests. Just to write and read. I've been here for about four years and along the way I've met some wonderful people. Just want things to get back to normal again. Less drama and fights and more writing and friendship.

K I'm done :] skittles to all and to all a goodnight or good morning [:

    Thank you, lady Nik
I used to work for the government where when things went right "we" did it and when things went off course "they" did it. When you find a cyberspace that does not have the drama and finger pointing that has been happening since Adam blamed Eve . "I" for one will join and remain silent .

Don't get me wrong your point is valid.

    Hi Nik :)

I'd like to think that they left because they do not want to deal with us and PnQ's problems anymore. Or simply because they need some alone time to recharge emotionally and physically.

Also, some people will push features of themselves that they find intolerable onto others and we keep forgetting that people can affect us only if we let them.

Anyway, I hope they'll come back soon.

This is a sweet message, Nik. Thank you for caring enough to write something everybody can read and reflect on :)

I will try harder to focus on the positive and remember PnQ is a poetry site. We all came here because we wanted to share our works or read others' - usually both. Sometimes the forums make me forget that.

I have to agree with Bob, we can also beat negative situations by keeping a positive attitude. :D

Bob Dylan's son worked on Yusuf Islam's newest album which makes me believe the poets and song writers have open minds

I believe many of us could welcome both Yusuf Islam and Bob Dylan with all the drama that surrounds them with lyrics like peace train and

"Neighborhood Bully" (Dylan's lyric/poem about Israel)

"Well, the neighborhood bully, he's just one man,
His enemies say he's on their land.
They got him outnumbered about a million to one,
He got no place to escape to, no place to run.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

The neighborhood bully just lives to survive,
He's criticized and condemned for being alive.
He's not supposed to fight back, he's supposed to have thick skin,
He's supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land,
He's wandered the earth an exiled man.
Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn,
He's always on trial for just being born.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

Well, he knocked out a lynch mob, he was criticized,
Old women condemned him, said he should apologize.
Then he destroyed a bomb factory, nobody was glad.
The bombs were meant for him.
He was supposed to feel bad.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

Well, the chances are against it and the odds are slim
That he'll live by the rules that the world makes for him,
'Cause there's a noose at his neck and a gun at his back
And a license to kill him is given out to every maniac.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

He got no allies to really speak of.
What he gets he must pay for, he don't get it out of love.
He buys obsolete weapons and he won't be denied
But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

Well, he's surrounded by pacifists who all want peace,
They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease.
Now, they wouldn't hurt a fly.
To hurt one they would weep.
They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

Every empire that's enslaved him is gone,
Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon.
He's made a garden of paradise in the desert sand,
In bed with nobody, under no one's command.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

Now his holiest books have been trampled upon,
No contract he signed was worth what it was written on.
He took the crumbs of the world and he turned it into wealth,
Took sickness and disease and he turned it into health.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

What's anybody indebted to him for?
    Nothin', they say.
He just likes to cause war.
Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed,
They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed.
    He's the neighborhood bully.

What has he done to wear so many scars?
Does he change the course of rivers?
Does he pollute the moon and stars?
Neighborhood bully, standing on the hill,
Running out the clock, time standing still,
    Neighborhood bully.

Palestine's point of view because Rebea just wrote what he perceived

I can understand the sentiment behind the OP's post, but you have to know that life is not just about being kind to each other. You often learn more from your socalled enemies and those who don't really like you. They keep you sharp and on your toes. A good debate can be too much for sensitive souls or those who thrive in their clubs and behind the scenes. They are best off not even reading what goes on here and certainly not as a participant...they do have a choice.

    Very nice message

But I echo Ingrid, Bob and Mike.

Also lets not forget not everyone is who they seem. The internet is a gateway to be whomever you want. Sometimes people leave because of negativity, problems with the site, real life issues or trying to leave before truths are found out.

In the end what we all have to realize is people leave of their own free will. As Bob pointed out essentially people can only get the best of you if you let them. No one is making anyone leave it is their choice to do so in the end. Hopefully those who care for them and they care about have other means of contact.

A lot of the arguments you see on here tend to happen in cycles. But lets not forget before this cycle hit the site was actually a pleasant place. Like many things in life, relationships and even forums. When you stick a bunch of regulars together friction is bound to happen. I like that we have level headed adults on here though who don't take things to heart too much and gear up for the next debate. :)

I'm positive those who have left will return in time, just as I have done, Britt, Bob, Al and others have done. I do appreciate the message you're getting across and it's a pleasure to see you on the boards. I can't say I've seen you around much. If you've changed your name my apologies :) Again thank you.

I understand that the world can't be all nice and hugs and kisses and I wasn't suggesting it should be. I was just saying a few nice words because I wanted to. Not because I want us all the sing songs in a circle and eat cookies.

Bob I don't know why the debate threads out number the nice ones. I wasn't on for father's day, was with my father. I hardly get on the main thread because I'm not on for a long time. I get on I get off. If I have time I'll pop in and see what's going on.

Anywho this was just to cheer some people up. Wasn't trying to start another debate. And Austin I've leared lots from you :P

Thanks for the words, Lady Nik! Drama sure sells more tickets, but it's good to have these gentle reminders of peace along the way. It can help people see the bigger picture, even if just for a bit. : )

"And then one has to ask why are all debates considered drama, there is a lot of validity to many of the different views shared on this website, but so easy when people don't agree, they consider it drama...I'm just saying...."

You're right, there's definitely a difference between drama and your general debate. Not that we don't get both around here : ) I wish it was easier to actually have those debates about ideas without them dissolving into personal things. Maybe it's just the dark side of human nature, or maybe it's more fun to argue, or something.

ABC, other robot man, and Kevin have had some fun discussions going on in the Other forum! I like reading those, even if I don't participate much.
