Autumn
by Melpomene
"This piece that was unequivocally my favorite. There is a depth not spoken of, a bond that could be between mother and daughter, but even then, a closer bond. The poetess describes beauty and trials and uses great imagery in this piece. Stunning piece." (10)
"This is such a beautiful tribute to a friend. To relate someone to a particular season not only makes the poem more lovely but made the poem feel more special as this way it seems more personal, and more fitting to this person they speak of. I definitely adored several of the images the writer portrayed throughout the poem; 'bark fraying at her heels, foliage dancing' being one of them. Also, I loved the bit that referred to the person's zodiac sign and what it resembles in terms of their personality. As always, this writer has touched the reader in such a unique way. Definitely a beautiful write in all aspects, and well deserving of a win.'' (10)
"This poet never ceases to amaze me. Not simply for her dialogues nor her elegant writing style but her ability to weave such emotional depth and at the same time her ability to think outside the box. Most of the metaphors used are fresh insight while ensure a compelling, engaging conversation with the readers. Such a sweet piece for such a worthy person!" (4)

Clueless
by Ms Sunshine
"What I liked about this piece was how the writers thoughts were jumbled, they were all over the place and it really worked well with the concept. The thoughts were sharp and always changing which helped to reinforce the idea of a mind being boggled. I thought the attitude was interesting, a carefree feeling of 'I don't care what you think.' It had quite a sarcastic tongue to it which put a little smirk on my face. The poet showed strength with her words and also courage, it's good to see when people write for themselves and not to please an audience, it also gives courage to tell your audience I don't care if you like this or not. This poem however also managed to include the reader throughout it which I thought was an interesting contrast. I always enjoy the symbolism and metaphors within her poems, and they ending had quite a few different meanings for me personally. An intriguing read." (10)
"What I love most about this poem is the direct questions to the reader, almost as if there is a bit of voyeurism going on. As if I shouldn't be reading it, yet couldn't draw my eyes from it. Perhaps we all try to remain clueless." (4)
"I really like how this poem spoke to the reader, literally. You truly felt as though you were a part of the poem and could connect quite well. Though it may not have been the most excellent poem it was very expressive and held such a strong voice. The questions in the poem were quite fitting, and thought provoking as well. If I had to offer a slight suggestion I would change 'effecting' to 'effective'. Nice job" (4)
"This poet's easy, readable style always brings something complex to the table. While reading this piece, I could easily picture the scene I was reading though it was carefully structured and staged in some spots. A very simple one yet exemplifies what a clueless person would be thrilled to find in another clues mind. The last stanza is profound and leaves the readers musing on time and the fleeting amount they spent while reading it." (10)

Sisters
by Narphangu
"The phrases were clever throughout this piece, I saw this as a metaphor itself. One that speaks of ties between two people, ties that are thinning or were never really existent in the first place. I think sisters was a good metaphor for two people who remain 'friends' even if they aren't. Too often do you see that family ties you together no matter the circumstances and even though two people aren't close they still communicate because it's easier than facing what truly is in front of you. While I see the poem from this perspective, looking at it from the idea of two actual sisters is both interesting and sad. I thought the ending was bitter-sweet, almost as though the writer was saying even though we will fight again we do love one and other, this is just how we show it. Lovely images, I could picture this scene in my mind." (7)
"There is something about this piece that makes me want to read it over and over. Trying to decipher the story, yet it is plainly there. A poem I will find myself reading time and time again." (7)
"'This was truly an excellent write, another personal poem in the mix of nominations this week. The writer wrote something truly emotional and full of thought. You can definitely feel that little bit of tension that there always is between siblings and how often there's that jealousy. I think anyone could relate to this in a way, no matter the person they speak of, whether it be someone closely related, or a friend - it is all the same. I really found myself nestling into the depth of the words in this poem, the meaning behind some of the lines is wonderful. 'Today we'll take our coffees hot enough to burn the bridges we never built' - such a heartbreaking line. Realizing you never really had that bond with someone you're more than likely meant to be close to is not always the easiest thing to accept. I wouldn't change a thing about this poem. It's raw and personal and that's what made it a great poem for me. Very nicely done.'' (7)

HONORABLE MENTION:
Wistful
by Courageous Dreamer
"I have noticed another poetic device at work in this piece whereas it not only has helped to reinforce the subject matter but as the same time engaged the imagination and emotions of the readers. This piece is one perfect example of those unique forms of reading between the lines, like the kind of love that is unreturned and despite the vividness of her descriptions; there is a strong sense of the characters' personal sentiment and sadness lurking in this piece." (7)
"As always the writer captures me with her symbolism and imagery, I found symbolism in almost every part of this poem and it was with that I was able to decipher the concept. I was especially fond of the reference to two people not being parallel, it was extremely emotive and touched my heart. I adore how she incorporates the imagery, her references to flowers never grow tiring in my opinion. Technique as always is strong, the subtle alliteration works well with the flow. What more to say, I enjoyed it from start to finish. A delightful read." (4)
