Thank you so much for the birthday wishes everyone, it was a lovely surprise!

As luck would have it I was sick on my birthday, had been sick at least four days prior as well. But, despite being sick it didn't put a damper on my birthday spirit--nor did it stop me from having a couple glasses of Pillitteri Icewine! ;) Being sick my fiance postponed our hot air balloon ride or other activity for a later day, but we did manage to later that afternoon go over to his mom and dads for some wine, home-made burgers, cake and a couple of movies (Hall Pass and I Am Four). I enjoyed myself, especially the wine, haha!

As I mentioned above, I was sick on my birthday but I didn't let that stomp on my birthday spirit! I enjoyed myself. My fiance, myself and a friend of ours actually went on a hike last week at a place called Castle Butte, which is home to an ever-eroding monolith of sandstone, clay and other sediments that stands 70m (200ft) high over the Big Muddy Valley in southern Saskatchewan. There's actually a lot of history there and in that area. We hiked all the way to the top of the monolith, explored the crevices we came upon and admired the various sediment formations along the way. We couldn't have picked a better day for it. I honestly could have spent the entire day there, I was emotionally and spiritually overwhelmed and enlightened. It was a rewarding experience.

That is so interesting, Lizzy! :) I'm glad to know you enjoyed it.

It was very interesting Nano. It reminded me of my trip to Greece and Turkey several years ago. There was a lot of walking, hiking and otherwise physical activity and the places we visited was rich with history and culture. I absolutely loved it. Though it is closer to home, getting to go to Castle Butte was just as exciting.

You have been to Turkey! my mother (RIP) was Turkish, and we used to go there more often, I LOVE Turkey. we visited lots of amazing places, and yes I agree with you, these places are full of culture and interesting history! :)
