"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

    --Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948)

Feel free to discuss the quote, to share other words of wisdom from Mahatma Gandhi or even share an interesting fact about him. :)

Mahatma Gandhi : Indian Philosopher, internationally esteemed for his doctrine of nonviolent protest, 1869-1948.

I love the quot you shared Eli, and for me it motivates one to be at least the 1st to make a new step for the sake of a change, rather than nagging about the bad situation and the harm around a world with everyone else, one can start by his ownself and be a model for others..perhaps a huge change starts by a tiny step.

    ---
one of my very favorite quots for him,

The weak can never forgive, forgiveness is the attribute of the strong!

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

I don't always do this well, but I honestly do try to keep it in mind, particularly if I'm arguing with someone.

Colm, thanks for sharing that quote, I think it's definitely one of his most well-known.

Nana, thank you for providing a little more information about Mahatma Gandhi, it's much appreciated. Next time I'll be sure to include more details. Also, I love the quote you presented, I was about to post it myself but you beat me to it, haha. It's one of my favorites and something I believe strongly in. :)

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

You can't change the world, but what you can do is start closer to home. A good place to start is by changing yourself. Like Nana said, you can be a role model and perhaps it could start a chain reaction. Not necessarily in a big way, but rather among your family, your friends, your neighbors, your community, etc. Your world. However small at first, those small steps collectively can go a long way. It's definitely a positive message that we can pass down to our children for future generations to come.

I admire your honesty sib. I'm not perfect either, but I do try to keep it in mind too and also make the conscious effort to apply it. This quote motivates me to become a better person. You also make a great point. For example: How do you expect someone to change their attitude if you don't change yours. Or, how do you expect someone to become more open-minded if you won't allow your own mind to become open.

oh I love this! More like if you ain't getting your freedom of speech and your freedom of action to expresss your self, despite if what you have to say or do will be wrong.. then you're not free in the 1st place, cause you are not given the enough space to act...but rather sticking to the rules around you...which "forces" you to be right (sure in regard of what right is to the law..or well hope you know what I mean :P)

This quote is one of the wisest statements ever.

Some people on here know about my story, but for those who don't:

I used to weigh 275 pounds, until in 2002 I finally knew I had to change to survive..and so I did. I studied to become a weight consultant and during my studies I started to lose weight. It was a very long road and it took me several years to lose all the fat, even lost the last pounds this past year, but I have reached my goal: I now weigh 160 pounds and what's even greater, I have started a practice an now help other people to change their bad habits for good.

Ingrid I never knew this!! but I knew that a kind great woman like you would have such a story about success in her life! I really feel happy you could reach your goal, this is very inspiring I swear! :)

you are someone I look up to, dear.

    Thank you, Nano!...:)

I feel very happy to be able to help people help themselves. My intention is to make them slim for life, and keep them from the claws of the pharmaceutical industry. I teach them to eat healthy, unprocessed food and to walk 10,000 steps each day and that approach really pays off:)

you should be very VERY proud of yourself & of what you're doing because I think you deserve the best, you did not only help yourself and get rid of your problems NO but you are trying to help others and you are succeeding! that's great...:)
