There could be a better way besides books...
    It's called "Love"
Love is one of the best remedies
To have someone close to you
    Is a really good feeling
    To hold
    To kiss
    To be bliss

I loved that book cut it was AWESOME and so was A Child Called It...it was a really sad book....a good book about abuse...well I know a lot of them...One of them was You Don't Know Me...I don't remember who it was by, another was BREATHING UNDERWATER it was SOOO good...umm....a good book about relationship bf/gf abuse would be Dreamland, What my mother doesn't know, LESLIES JOURNAL>>best book ever!! Um...Flowers In The Attic by V.C. Andrews, a great book.....a few about about loss/depression books, would be all books by Lurlene McDaniel...I've read a lot of great books, I'm sure you won't ever have the time to read all of these, but I read a lot and they are all AWESOME.
If you want to know anymore, just tell me! Although I'm sure you're gonna have a heck of a time trying to read those that is if you even want to...just thought I'd give you some of my favorites....also another good one is Framed in Fire

I thought that cut was horrible. I like Crosses by Shelly Stoehr. Lurlene McDaniel doesnt write depressing books! If you go to her for books about suicide theres maybe one about dealing with a dad's suicide. But other than that they're mostly about kids with illnesses and most of them get better and there's always a happy ending.

    Checkers by John Marsden.
It's not on self harm, but the girl had serious issues. It's really sad. Though it is sorta aimed at 'young adults'.
