Calling Poets: Colm's Challenge Round 1

Fill up the ink-wells, dust down the typewriters and give your poetic brain a wake up call, it's time for another site contest! I invite everybody to join in; for some fun, some challenges and poetic improvement. Who will be crowned winner??

There will be THREE ROUNDS. Depending on the number of enteries, there will be a number of poets eliminated each round. Points will be added together, with the winner being the person with the most points acumilatated from the three rounds.

There are three well qualified judges in place and the contest will of course be judged anonymously. SEND ALL POEMS TO ME. Do not post your poems until the contest is over and results and entrants named. Note, you can't edit or alter poems after they are sent to me. Total results and participants will be all posted in a thread at the end :)

Each poem will recieve some review/critique, so that hopefully everybody will learn a little from the experience.

ROUND 1

Ok. There will be some suprises in the later rounds, but round one will be pretty much an open round to give everybody the chance to impress and fascinate the judges. Basically the only rules are that the poem must be 100 WORDS OR LESS and that it has to be NEW. You are free to write about any topic, and can write in a specific poetic form if you so want to. Use the oppertunity to send in some high-quality poetry!

Colm's Tip: Do not make it apparent to a reader that there is a word count in the poem. Or don't take a longer poem and take away a few 'fillers' to make a word count. Those are major no-no's.

DEADLINE: Friday 19th August, 1pm PnQ time. (7pm GMT) That gives you just over a week to send in your enteries. Late enteries won't be accepted! Round 2 will start on Monday 22nd.

This round is a love hate, I love the freedom, but hate the lack of an original idea to start! Lol

Probably difficult to come up with original ideas since we've had 7 or so of these site contests already.
