I want to apoligize for not being here this past week. If you have not read any of my facebook then you are lucky!

My 14 yr. old got a concussion last week in a football game. It is his third one in his lifetime, but the only one from sports.

The drs want him to quit playing ALL sports FOR GOOD. We were just advised of that today.

They are running more test and we are going for a 2nd opinion.

That and my pain levels are getting much worse.

I am not stepping down, but asking for time to help my son through this difficult period. Sports is everything to him, and right now I must be a mom before anything.

Whew..... Now I think I am going to go cry... Seeing my son go through this rips me apart!

Also, I will be gone for an undetermined amount of time starting the 22nd of this month. I will be going in for the first of at least three surgeries that I have to have on my hip.

Sherry hun I wish you all the best. I hope with time your pain and your families pain will soon subside. You've been put through the ringer 10 fold and just deserve to have things go right.

As a member I say take as much time as you need. All the best and I wish you well. May you have speedy recoveries with your surgeries.

Sherry, I know how hard that must be for your son. After my 3rd concussion, I had to stop playing high school lacrosse. I played for 8 years and planned on using my athletics to get into a good college, but that went down the drain.

At worst, it will encourage your son to take less risks and be more careful in the future when engaging in extreme activities. It can actually be a sound life lesson, and with time, it won't hold him back.

I'm happy he has such a wonderful mom to lean on through this!

As for your surgeries, take all the time you need to recover. Just take care of yourself and yours, don't worry about a thing on PnQ. We'll keep your mod chair nice and clean (and empty) for however long it takes.

Your son needs to take the doctor serious, especially for the impact it can have in later life. This is not the end of his world, though.

You take the time you need for him and yourself as well. We're here for you.

Thanks for all the prayers and warm wishes. I never get to say this enough, but I am the one who is blessed by Tyler. If there is a perfect teenager he is it.

Never has he given me any trouble and he is always respectful, polite, encouraging, kind, helpful, loving, and everything that the average teen is not.

I do not mean any disrespect by that to anyone. I have 4 children, all have entered their teen years and one is now 20 so I know from experience. Tyler is a great and trustworthy young man whos character is as big as his talent on and off the field. I am blessed and proud to be his mom.
